genuine concern

can one get hiv if he or she has had PROTECTED  sex with with an infected person or status unknown person .. please advise.

Dude,

If you had unprotected vaginal or anal sex, be it once or many times, the risk of acquiring the virus is there. Frankly speaking, the statistics will not make a difference as to know when you have engaged in a high risk activity.

The chances are high no doubt as HIV can be transmitted either by:
1) Unprotected anal or vaginal sex
2) Infected mother to child
3) sharing of needles

vaginal sex is 1 in 1000 with a positive partner. I believe

It can and does happen, that's why you use condoms correctly and consistently.

thanks .. just one question .. what are the chances of one contracting hiv from an unknown or positive with just one sexual encounter ..
