Hi Dr,
Thank you in advance for answering my question. I tested negative last year about this time, however, after going through a bad break up I did things that I probably wouldn't have done otherwise.
Over the last year I have had multiple sex partners 15+(I am a gay man). I consistently uses condoms for anal sex of which I am mostly the top, however I have given and received blow jobs and remember tasting precum and deep throating. Occasionally I have bleeding, raw gums. I have also practiced frottage. I have never let a guy ejaculate in my mouth.
The time has come for my annual check up and I am scared out of mind. I have wised up as I don't really want this multiple partner lifestyle. I remember having drenching night sweats (enough to change the shirt and pillowcase) for three to four days which I have never had before. I was on Wellbutrin SR at the time also. I also remember having persistent diarrhea to the point of water for about a week (sorry for the details).
I always ask status, however , after pressuring one guy he told me he was hiv+ after the fact, I only sucked him for about thirty seconds however he sucked me for about a half hour and we made out heavily.
Could you please answer the following questions:
1) Have you ever seen someone with symptoms and the number of partners such as me, given the nature of exposure (I am ashamed) turn out negative?
2) Do I have any realistic worry here? Is it possible that I could have been infected through precum or someone rubbing their penis against my anus?
3) GIven the nature of my exposure is 6 weeks sufficient?
I cannot shake the gut feeling that I have that I may have caught this. Thank you again for all that you do... If I get out of this without being scathed I have seriously learned my lesson.
