I have the symptoms you described and my esr is elevated but my test results says I am hiv negative even at seven months. I am living my life and looking for the other causes of my neuropathy. A spot antibodies test at 3 months is conclusive, experts say. I guess we should all learn a lesson from all these, abstain. Well JESUS is our hope and peace try Him and your peace will be restored.
There are numerous causes of neuropathy, not just diabetes or HIV. I also have PN without either cause.
vance m thankful to u for helping me this much...dr hook and handsfield have mentioned that sometimes neuropathy be a part of ars but its unusual that's y I asked you bcoz ubhave got vast experiance in this field..just one last question....can I be 100% sure that I m hiv free?are there any chances for me to turn positive after 5 month negative?
I can't tell you anymore, it has nothing to do with HIV and no one on this site will state that it does. I'm sorry but the HIV forum can not help you.
vance I have shown to many doctors including neurologists....they are unable to treat as underlying cause of neuropathy isn't found..and I have readen that neuropathy can be first manifestation of hiv ars :(..neuropathy can be mostly caused by diabetes or hiv..m not diabetec than only one option is left....are there any strains which my tests aren't detecting?how much chances arethere for my further test to turn positive?
See a Dr, not HIV related

dude you are negative and I swear I had and still have all the symptoms you are talking about. I had neuropathy and it was very painful. I tested negative 4 times from 3 to 4.5 months. Take it from me YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV.

thanks for the advice....I am completely blanked right now..the most 2 common causes of neuropathy are diabetes and hiv..m not having diabetes..neither m having any deficiency in vitamins or nutrients..what more is left now :(..my id specialist ordered inflammatory markers test also along with othetr tests..and both my esr and crp counts came back very abnormal.4 times morethan the normal range. i have seen in almost all hiv sites and heard by doctorsthat esr and crp arealways elevated during hiv infection..they did emg ncs test also in which neuropathy was found.. they can't treat also because theyarent able to find underlying infection..its really horrible....I have seen that thereare rarecases who turned positive after 1 year... msure m one of thatrarepersons who will turn positive after 5 months negative
What should you do? Get a new doctor. Your test results override any symptoms you may be experiencing. The CDC's most recent guidelines (less than a year) is that negative test results on a DUO test are conclusive. You did not acquire HIV from the encounter you describe. Your symptoms are not a result of HIV, please seek out a more knowledge physician.
