Hi Teak,

I've been reading all websites about risks of contracting HIV thru oral sex. They claim there's documented cases and it's easy to see that they are been more cautious. Better safe than sorry advice.

Here at medhelp.org all moderators that have medical, personal and family HIV experience says without any doubt that HIV can't be spread thru Oral Sex and that there's no documented case in 30 years of HIV infections.

I was always scared about HIV and become more conscious and educated thru medhelp.org and assume have a piece of mind when having oral sex by remembering the medhelp.org advices, even though get guilty after the fact and become to count 4 weeks without any flu-like symptoms or even get scared with the frase "many people don't experience ARS".

Why should I TRUST medhelp.org more than others? I ask this question to get reassurance not just for me, but for all those I'm sure right now are goggleing HIV.

Thanks for your time!!

There is no debate (among experts) about the HIV risks associated with oral sex. The risk is so low that almost nobody who cares for HIV infected patients has ever had a patient believed to have been infected that way. Among experts, it's a semantic issue about using terms like "no risk" and "very low risk". There is no difference between my or Dr. Hook's use of "low risk" and other experts' "no risk".
DR. HANSFIELD

"And oral sex is basically safe sex -- completely safe with respect to HIV and although not zero risk for other STDs, the chance of infection is far lower than for unprotected vaginal or anal sex. Please educate yourself about the real risks. If you stick with oral sex and condom-protected vaginal or anal sex, you have no HIV worries and very little worry about other STDs. " DR HANSFIELD

"I am sure you can find lots of people who believe that HIV is transmitted by oral sex, but you will not find scientific data to support this unrealistic concern..." DR HOOK

"HIV is not spread by touching, masturbation, oral sex or condom protected sex."- DR. HOOK

in the public HIV Prevention forum of MedHelp, TEAK and the other moderators maintain that oral sex in all forms is a zero risk activity. Would you agree with this assessment?
I TOTALLY AGREE / DR GARCIA
"HIV is not spread by masturbation, through oral sex, through kissing or other casual contact." Dr. Hook
"The observation on thousands and thousands of observations is that HIV is not spread by oral sex (of any sort)." DR HOOK
"I would not say your risk ,if he had HIV is "slim to none"- that's too high.  I would say they are effectively zero.  How much of his ejaculate or other genital  secretions you may have swallowed makes no difference.  EWH "
"As far as HIV is concerned, there is no known risk of getting HIV from performing oral sex on an infected partner, even if that person's genital secretions get into your eyes or if you swallow." Dr.Hook

Just to keep a tracking on this post. Sometimes I read posts of "worried wells" without a conclusion. I wish everybody that start a post and decide to get tested to post the results.

I will start a third set of antibiotics to fight the infection I'm facing for almost 5 weeks. I had a year infection (1 week after exposure), sore-throat (pharyngitis) (2 weeks after exposure) and now a sore-throat with spots of pus (6 weeks after exposure). Never had fever, but discomfort under my arm pits for 2 weeks (no enlarged lymph-nodes). I found 3 blisters on my groin lasting 2 weeks already. It looks like a herpes blister. I had herpes on my lips long time ago and tested positive for HSV-2, but never had genital outbreaks.

Just tested today (6 weeks after exposure) for HSV1,2, HEP B/C, CHLAMYDIA, GONORRHOEAE, HPR and HIV1/2.

I trust everybody here about Oral Sex and since I'm testing and having those symptoms, I know others "worried well" will find relief when finding a story of Oral exposition with negative results.

Long time ago when I tested positive for HSV-2 after a Oral exposure I panic fearing HIV. I had Sore-Throat, Insomnia, Diarrhea for a week, lost 10 pounds, Oral thrush, rash In my lips, muscle pain, light discomfort and even upper trunk red rashes. Almost all HIV ARS Symptoms and tested negative after 6/months and one year.

I will post the results in 3 days. I’m just worried this time, but no panic at all.
