Quadruple by pass

Hi . I am wondering what is the usual period from the time one has a by pass performed and when one is seen again by the Surgeon? I have had a quad by pass and was forgotten about till I phoned after 12 weeks and made enquiries. I was told that it was up to myself to make an appointment for this check up and I should have been told this when I was been discharged . Surely this is not the case I mean its not like visiting the dentist and I wonder now will the 16 weeks between surgery and visit likely to have caused any problems? I  have been very lucky and got no infections so I hope all will be ok...Wonderful job done by Coronary staff and all at Hospital just to be let down by clerical error.

In the UK it is usually 6-8 weeks after surgery that you see your Cardiologist after bypass surgery but you are told to get in touch or go to ER if you have any problems.
