Chest Pain while running

Hello. I have a question. I'm a 42 years old male, I'm healthy and I workout and run in a gym for some years so I'm used to exercise. Since 2-3 weeks I've noticed that while running and usually just after the first 5 minutes, I get a kind of chest pain that somehow feels kind of muscular pain but makes my running difficult and I usually stop. It seems located all over my chest, like I got my muscles tired over there, on my cage rib. But my breeding is ok, I don't get out of air. I'm also getting out of a bad cold, although now I'm ok, I don't know if it has any relation. I'm just a bit paranoid that I got some kind of heart problem or if it's something muscular, I don't know. I had an ECG in the beginning of 2008, which was normal. Can you help me?

A holter test is to record an arrhythmia, and your EKG was normal.  That test may not be of any benefit.

Different symptoms with a bicycle and running is odd as both are aerobic, but there should be identical METs to be valid comparison.  MET is the basal metabolic rate (BMR) that is "the energy required for essential physiological functioning.  Bicycling at 24 mph is 5.0 METs and running 12 min mile is 8.5 METs.  That may account for no pain bicycling

The odd is that if I exercise in bicycle, vigorously, I don't get any pain. Only if I run. But maybe I should get some kind of test, perhaps an Holter test to get out of my doubts.

An EKG has a very low sensitivity rating for ischemia (lack of blood flow) of the heart.  When there is ischemia it usually begins with angina (chest pain, discomfort, etc.) with exertion and subsides almost immediately with rest.  Breathing can be normal.

You should get a stress test if you are experiencing angina.  The test will view images of blood perfusion through heart tissues and should reveal coronary occlusion or dificit of blood flow.  If there is ischemia, that condition can permanently damage heart cells.
