The left side of your heart is also the right side of your left lung, which is susceptible to stabs of pain. The heart itself doesn't have any pain sensors so heart pain is felt in the surrounding areas, usually as an ache or pressure instead of stab sensation.
But that doesn't mean you can ignore it, because for every rule there is an exception and you don't want a heart problem to catch you by surprise.
Hi, thank you, sorry I didn't really describe it very well. The feeling is very localised and it feels like some has the area in there hand squeezing it. It has now been this way for two and a half days. It has not got any worse or any better, it's is just lingering.
Thank you for replying
