Do I have Heart Disease or is it something else?

Hi Everyone - I am 27, Male, Weight 13st 6, I'm Asthmatic (Taking Beciometasone dipropionate), IBS, Hiatus Hernia (Pantoprazole).

Tests I have had Chest X-Ray, Back X-Ray, Blood Tests, 72 HR ECG, Standard ECG, Echocardiogram, Ultrasound on Stomach.

I have been suffering with a 'Really Tight' chest and a feeling that I can't breath properly. I occasionally get pains in my left arm. It generally feels tight but gets worse when I walk. I tried a Bike ride the other day as I do no fitness. I ended up cycling for 12 miles which I was impressed with. My chest was tight at first but calmed down after a few miles. When I finished the Tight chest came on again.

I just want this tight chest to stop but no one has an answer? Possible Anxiety NO. Its like a my chest is always being crushed and I have to really fight to expand my lungs.

Can anyone help?

I can only comment with my experiences of angina. When discomforts appear, usually during exertion because the heart requires more oxygen, then I would have no hope of fighting through it. If I try, it would simply get worse until I am at the point of having very bad chest pains. The more I push, the worse the symptoms get. I think to accomplish a 12 mile cycle ride would suggest no heart trouble. When you finish the ride and your heart relaxes, angina would go away, not suddenly appear.

Do you also have a fast acting inhaler like albuterol? Have you used that at all when your chest felt tight? The beclomethasone is a steroid that is used for longer periods of time to gradually reduce the inflammation in the lungs. It can also trigger fungal infections if not used properly - most commonly thrush in the mouth.

Two things you might ask your doctor: do you need a pulmonary function test to see if the medication is actually controlling your asthma? (how's your peak flow doing by the way?)  And secondly, should you wear a heart monitor for a couple days to see what your heart is doing when you feel short of breath? A quick ECG in the office won't show anything if you're feeling normal and your heart is acting normal at the moment.
