Health After Bypass Surgery

Hello,
My father underwent a bypas surgery second time in Nov 2009.First was held in April 2004.
He has having a diabetice since 30 years.his age is 59 now.
After two years of 2nd bypass surgery.he is feeling dizzy in night only.
My question is that what could be the reason that he is facing dizzyness, breathlessness in night (after 10 pm)only.

Dear Anandjoshi there are two top most differential diagnosis in your father case
1- cardiac arrythmias , ventricular most probably although it can be less dangerous atrial fibrillation, he may need Holter monitoring to sort it out .
2- As he has been diabetic since 30 years he may be having "Diabetic cardiomyopathy"
an urgent echocardiogram is needed .

there may be some other diagnoses unrelated to cardiac problem but related to long term diabetes , but first you must consult a local cardiologist then go to elsewhere. I hope I answered you .

I would have a talk to the cardiologist. It could be something simple, such as medication wearing off too soon. I would have some tests run in case this is an early sign of a bigger problem. Does the problem only occur when he lays down?
