I was told that the arteries around my heart are twisted.

Last summer, due to recurrent but mild pain in chest I was sent for a stress test, at the very end of the test some irregularity showed up and I was sent for an angiogram, Results were negative, no built up in arteries but the specialist told me that the arteries around my heart are very twisted and not to worry about it.  I was put on Beta blockers for a while and cholesterol tabs as my cholesterol was elevated, also on asperine.  After a while the pain went away and I came off the medication except for the asperine.  I get pain in chest during the night sometimes but nothing scary or bad.  My G.P. wants to put me on medication as he thinks that the twisted arteries will be a problem in possible future heart disease.  I am a healthy person normally.

My question:  Can anyone shed light on the " twisted arteries" prognosis?  Has anyone ever heard about this before or dealt with it?  I would like more information but cannot find anything on the Internet.

Finally, finally you have pointed me in the right direction, I've been trying to find info for quite a while about this condition.  Thank you very much indeed.

One thing that this might explain, after reading what other people have to say about symptoms is that I have had shortness of breath since I was a teenager, I am now 59, and there is no patern to it, I might get up with it, or I might get it for a couple of days in a row, or I might be able to breathe real well for a few days, then it comes again, I now think that it might be related to this torturous aorta.  This is only the beginning of my research, I now know that I should take my high cholesterol level serious indeed and use medication as well as exercise and watch dieet.
Thanks again.

My echo report stastes I have a toruous aorta.  The problem is there are acute angles of the vessel and as a result can decrease blood flow and increase the heart's workload by stressing the heart with more resistance to pump against.

A tortuous vessel, if there is some obstruction such as plague blockage, presents a challenge to navigate a stent delivery system into the lesion and may require a bypass.  Worst case scenario.

Prognosis for blockage is higher than a normally structured vessel and the severity would be a factor. You may find more information if you google tortuous.  Good luck.
