My Pharmacist

Last tuesday morning I was having a laugh and joke with my pharmacist having just been given a fresh supply of medication. He was out of stock of one item and I had to return the next morning, so I joked "if I'm still alive then". He had been for a full medical the day before and was classed as very fit for a 67 year old. He was athletic in build, never smoked, never drank, had normal cholesterol, normal blood pressure and yet that afternoon he died of a heart attack. You can imagine how shocked I was.

I agree. I remember last summer in the UK, they said in the media to drink plenty of water because of the dangers of dehydration. The following day the media reported drinking too much is worse for you than not drinking at all. How can you drink too much water? I would vommit. The year before it was reported how tea was good for the heart. A week later the media changed their minds and said it was bad for you. A simple look at the stock markets explained that one.

That's just so sad. I'm sorry to hear that. I know we need to take care of ourselves but sometimes I wonder if it makes that much difference.

My Dad had a heart attack, they gave him all the meds, kept his cholesterol down with drugs. One day he had an appt. with his cardio, everything looked great and the next day he had his 2nd heart attack. He ended up having 4 MIs, developed CHF of course and then died from cancer. That's when I start feeling discouraged and say what the heck, enjoy a burger now and then or some ice cream because we're going to die anyway. Not a good attitude I admit but medical news keeps shifting and telling us this is good, that's bad and then change their minds the next month.
