Heart felt like it was going to stop :/

Hey all so here's my odd story tonight I was eating weetbix and as I swallowed I got a hot flush then my heart slowed right down I could feel it beating like boom........boom ect couldn't breath much and had a sharp pain shoot up my back and into my neck it eventually went away only lasted 3 minutes :/ any way I went to the emergency because I literally thought me heart was going to stop they did a ECG and said it was fine :) what the hell happend any one shed some light? I have cardiomyopothy as well but am medicated I take carvidalol I have never experienced any thing like this before

I honestly don't know and since it came and left before the doctors could see it on ECG, it would be guess work. From my own experience with a lifetime of arrhythmias, I know sometimes eating too fast or trying to swallow too large a bite can stimulate the vagus nerve and upset the heart rhythm for a bit. The nerve apparently runs very close to the esophagus. Some people have trouble with swallowing and rhythm problems quite often. I've only had it happen rarely.

I'm sure it was scary and very uncomfortable but I'm glad it set itself right. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.
