High white blood cell count as a predictor of coronary heart disease?

Hello, on Wednesday, I went for a blood test for HIV and other things and my friend that works at the hospital got access to my bloodwork and found that I had a higher than normal WBC count. It was at a 10 point something or somewhere in the 10,000s and the normal ranges between 3500-11,000 I believe. This worried me, because I did a lot of research online and several research suggest that a high normal WBC count can be a predictor of coronary heart disease.

here's the study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15542275

It's worrying me and I don't want to die from a heart disease. I don't have any significant illnesses other than anxiety and allergies. Also, I did heavy exercise a day before the blood test and apparently, that can cause a temporary spike in WBC cound. I am thinking about getting a second blood test later down the road.

Yes, and it can also be from acute leukemia.  You should not  panic so quickly and not think the worst so easily.
At your age coronary heart disease is very, very rare.

The more probable causes are a (recent) bacterial or viral infection or stress.
Allergies are known to elevate wbc, as is stress, such as severe emotional or physical stress.

Thank you. I believe it was from strenuous exercise less than a day before the blood tests!

At your age, you should not worry about coronary heart disease. That would be VERY unusual.

Why would you worry?
First, your WBC value is within the normal range, as you say yourself.
Second, if your WBC value is a bit higher than your normal WBC, there can be many, less disturbing reasons than coronary disease for that, like a recent infection or emotional or physical stress.
