can my disease be stress related

For the last 3 years I have been subjected to terrible stress. I left my husband who suffers from paranoia and he has terrorised myself and our two children sice I dared leave him. I was subjected to frequent and brutal destruction of property, methodical destruction and death threats by men waiting for me in the street, anonymous letters to my employer, then false charges made against me for child abuse etc... I have always been very fit and partook in regular sport (half marathon etc). I have just been diagnoses as having a atrial myxoma in the left atrium very large in size and dangerously located. Can this be related in any way to the intense stress I have been relentlessly subjected to over the last three years?

Yes, stress can be the factor that triggers abnormal medical events especially to vulnerable individuals that are predisposed to particular conditions.

Sorry for your circumstance, and I hope you improve going forward.  Take care.
