Having recently been hospitalized because of a blood clot on the lung and am on Warfarin for possibly 2-3 months, Why in spite of all the tests that were carried out was it not discovered that I  possibly have this factor 5 leiden, I only found out about this condition owing to the fact that several members of my family have had it but I didn't know until yesterday. Best Regards.

There is blood testing to find out the thickness of blood when on warfain (coumadin).  The thickness of the blood will determine when it will be safe for her to discontinue warfain.
