Kinda causes a lack of confidence in the doctor when they say they don't know why the medicine was prescribed does't it!
thank you for the help yes i did contact the doctor and they say it high and they are not sure why they gave betta blockers and the rate now 120 with the med im waitting to see a sp but the wait is 6 mn
You should consult with a doctor as it is difficult to determine the rhythm's regularity when the rate exceeds 150 beats per minute, and your heart can quickly go into ventricular fibrillaton meaning the contractility of the pumping chamber will feebly quiver rather than effectively pump. The condition results in cardiogenic shock, cessation of effective blood circulation, and sudden cardiac death will result in a matter of minutes.
Don't self-medicate without your doctor's knowledge as a general rule. For instance, slow internal bleeding can cause a rapid heart rate, and taking some medications could exascerbate the condition, etc....two weeks duration can rule that out, but only a doctor can make an evaluation. You state you are healthy, moderate lifestyle, proper diet, etc. so it may not be serious and could be hyperthroidism, etc. But see a doctor even if the rapid heartbeats abates significantley.
The body has several feedback mechanisms to maintain adequate blood flow and blood pressure. If blood pressure decreases, the heart beats faster in an attempt to raise it. This is called reflex tachycardia. This can happen in response to a decrease in blood volume (through dehydration or bleeding), or an unexpected change in blood flow.
Thanks for sharing, and if you have any followup questions you are welcome to respond. Take care.
Its a pretty simple answer...call the doctor...at 150 that is way beyond the normal limits for the heart to beat and it could be something simple like dietary input thats tossing you out these numbers. The dizziness no doubt is a result of your heart rate as well as the tiredness.....you need to make sure that everything is fine with your heart and if you can tolerate it you should be taking at least one aspirin a day until you can get into seeing the doc so that you can ward off clot issues with a pulse rate that high...
