I had an ablation for atrial fibrillation at age 63--also in good health and active life style. I am a male, now 65, and the ablation worked perfectly for me. It is a low risk procedure. For a fib, there is an 80% cure rate. I can't address cure rates for other rhythm issues.
You do need to talk with a cardiologist who specializes in this procedure--preferably one who has a long track record of doing these procedures.
In my case, caffeine was definite trigger. Alcohol is generally not a problem with light consumption, although some people report reacting with minimal consumption.
Hi,
I had an ablation in Aug. for SVT. I had a very positive experience and thankfully have been SVT free since. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have regarding ablation. I think talking with an EP about your situation and asking questions and getting information will be very helpful to you. Good luck!
Betty
You may get buried in responses, we see a couple of posts on Ablation every day.
Before you get too heavily involved in a study of Ablation, I recommend you get the diagnostic work done, preferably by a electro physiologist (ER) where Ablation is one possible recommendation.
I can say from what I've read there are a wide variety of responses to Ablation, some good, some not good.
