My afib is definitely triggered by a vagal response. Too large a meal, spicy food, even a very cold drink gulped too fast will trigger an episode. I use a PPI (prevacid) to minimize stomach acid and it helps somewhat. Anxiety contributes to, but in my opinion, does not cause, afib. There are actual changes in the heart such as the left atrium enlarging, which lead to more afib. I am scheduled for a catheter ablation in a few days to, one hopes, correct my afib. Sending best wishes to you for an answer to your afib.
Thank you very much for your comment .
As younger man I had no limits in running , jumping etc . Now I am learning the word ''Moderate'' and trying to prevent Afib from happening . Mother nature created anatomy in which Vagus is passing as mountain train , stomach and esophagus are neighbouring Heart and can touch it under some circumstances (full stomach , excessive gas , hiatal hernia proliferating etc ).
I hope that my experience could come to someone who newly had Afib and help in protecting health .
Regards
Sounds like your afib may respond to drug treatment... suppose the best place to start is a beta blocker and move up to stronger anti arrhythmic drugs if the beta blocker doesn't do the job. In the USA these drugs require a medical doctor prescription (order).
Above reads you to say your heart converts back to normal sinus rhythm after a period of afib. Thus you need help keeping from going into afib, not converting (more difficult I think() from afib.
