Michelle
im glad to hear you're ok now, what was it if you dont mind me asking?
Thank you all in responding to my letter, i just got home yesterday after going to the ER and finding out I had what they called a flutter in my heart, to make a long story short I had surgery right away and I feel so much better.
I'm at home now resting and so happy to be back on solids.
Thank you again for all your help , I do have to say you saved my life.
Cassie
I agree you need to have an EKG done to see what is going on. I had a pulse rate at home of 125-126 and after 4 hours of feeling it I called my PCP and they made arrangements for me to go right to the cardiologist, by the time I got there my HR was 156 and said I was in SUPRA VENTRICULAR TACHY. my blood pressure was just rising a little, (I normally have very very low BP) but the cardiologist treated me right there on the spot, the conversion felt like crap, but it work. he said my BP was starting to rise and when your heart is under stress like mine was it will go up. they thought I was in V-Tach but it was the other. I am on medications since Feb. and he has taught me some "self help" things to do at home to try to convert back if it happens again. I won't tell you because you need to get checked out and be treated
good luck
Michelle
hi there, this is a very high pulse and you should go back to the doctors especially if the meds aren't doing anything, your doctors should be helping you as this will have a stain on the heart at this rate. If you don't get any help try going to a and e if you are really worried that will sort it and at least you will know if there is anything wrong, we are told if we have any heart problems and our pulse is over 125 go to the a and e
I think the response from your doctor is horrible!
A heart rate between 120 and 175 is abnormal and should be treated ASAP. First step is to determine the rhythm. Is it normal sinus tachycardia or an arrhythmia? This can easily be determined by an EKG and it's done in a few seconds.
After the rhythm is determined, finding a cure is easier.
Visit the ER and get an EKG done.
"Self-treatment" with drinking too much water is likely not a good idea, unless you really are dehydrated. It can in worst case cause electrolyte disturbances and worsen your situation.
You need to see a doctor for this. I'm afraid it's difficult for us to help you.
