PVC's

I am 55 yr old male...and use dto get some SVT's, high atrial rate about 5/6 years ago, it is being controled by Metaprolo 37.5 mg daily and also for my (suspected anxiety), I take Celexa 20 mg. Now, I used to very few PVC's in th epast few years....a few times a week, ABout 6 months ago...I started to work out regularly , Cardio + Free weights and were seeing good results, feeling good about myself, no worries about the heart etc.

As of Jan 4th,....I just staretd having more PVC ( not like thousands or 100s....but around 50 or more per day). But this time...only when I do any activitity ie walk, exercise or eat, climbign stairs. Seldom at rest or sleeping. Have a lotts stress at work and at home ( might be causing more pvc's ...anyone ?). SO, I have now totally stopped working out.....nervous about re-generating SVT's or whatever.

Should I go to my Doc  again...he'll probably laugh and ask me to increase my B-blockers to 50 mg ( dont wanna do that). I am trying to do more Yoga & deep breathing.

When I do have PVCs (mine are PACs I've been told), they are also when doing activity like you mention.  Almost never when sitting or lying down will I ever have a PAC.  But when they are acting up, if I get up and walk across the room I'll have one.

I find, however, that I do not get them when really exerting myself.  For example, if I walk across a room I will have one but if I run up a flight of stairs, I won't have one until my heart starts to slow down.

In any event, 50 is not a ton like Michelle said but couldn't hurt to check in with the Dr if there has been a noticeable change lately and it doesn't seem related to changes in lifestyle.  Whenever mine act up though, I can usually attribute it to something like eating junk food or something like that.

50 is not a lot but I might call the doctor to let them know that you have them while you are exerting yourself.  I will usually get them once I have stopped exerting.  I won't get them going up the stairs but after I have sat down from the walk up.  Those I know are not dangerous but not sure if they occur during exercise if that is more a concern.  I don't think the amount you are feeling would qualify for any concern but it might be best to get that from your doctor.  I also know exercise is very good for your heart so you may just want to ease up a bit on it rather than quit all together.  And then definitely work on the stress as that is very likely compounding the issue.  Take care.
