Desperate for Answers

My husband has kept a low grade fever (about 99.5) and is having heart palpitations and severe anxiety. He has a lot of air and sometimes belching helps the palpitations. His blood pressure
is running about 140/88 and he is 26 years old. Lately, its become a really serious issue and we have been to doctor after doctor, and they can't figure out whats wrong. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? We are desperate for any leads. He does not drink caffeine, alcohol, etc. He has had an echocardiogram(?) and EKG and both have come back normal, so did his thyroid level.

I agree. I think this is an anxiety related issue. Many people don't know how interrelated the brain and nervous system are. For example, anxiety causes more sensativity in your vagus nerve and more adrenaline to be released which causes you to feel more anxious which causes your nervous sytem to become even more hypersensative which causes you to become even more nervous. It's a circuitous feedback loop that can be pretty nasty. The pysical implications can be very broad. Hear palpitations, numbness, loss of function of legs...I mean it really is impressive what anxiety can do: the list is virtually endless.
I would advise that you see a cardiologist to confirm heart related benign diagnoses. But I would also recommend seeing a psychiatrist or even family doctor to evaluate you for meds. The meds that work best take 2-4 weeks to kick in but there are others, called benodiazapines that can make you feel great right away. Most doctors don't want to dispense the benzos but if you beg, they'll give you a few for the transition period.

From the little you tell us it sounds like it isn't a heart problem.

You have a diagnosis of severe anxiety (from a doctor I assume), is he being treated for that?  Sever mental/emotional strain can cause may symptoms including heart palpitations.
High blood pressure at the doctor's office is a classical case of anxiety affecting blood pressure.  Many people have "mini" anxiety attacks when they go to the doctor, and up goes their heart rate and blood pressure, but outside the doctor office, they have normal HR and BP.  I state these well known facts as a "proof" than anxiety may be the root cause of your husband's symptoms.

There are medications for anxiety, they seem to help my wife some, but not a complete fix.
