digoxin side effects

Every now and then I feel like something is crawling on me when it's really now. Is this a side effect of digoxin? Also my hands, arms and legs are constantly falling asleep..

They haven't checked the levels in awhile. I will definitely ask about that when I seen the cardiologist next week. Digoxin was the first thing they tried ans it didn't work at first. The they tried flecainide along with the digoxin but that made my heat rate fast. All I had to do is stand up and I was at 160. So they took me off that 2 days after putting me on it. After the flecainide was out of my system the babus heart rate was all the sudden normal! I'm seeing 5 different pediatric cardiologist and some seem to think it just took awhile to work but my favorite doctor said she isnt convinced that it was the digoxin. She said he could very well be maturing out of it. So who knows lol I'm just so glad it's normal now and I hope it stays that way. I'm only 23 weeks so I have a long way to go!

That's great to hear.  I was curious what they chose Digoxin.  That is a very, very old drug.  I took it in 1957 when I had my first episode of SVT.  For me, it did little to stop them.  There are so many newer, frontline drugs for the treatment of SVT that don't have the unwanted side effects that digitalis based drugs include.  It would be interesting to hear their reasoning for using it.

There is something that you should ask you physician.  Digoxin has a very long half life.  I think it's close to 36 hours. What that basically means is that in 36 hours, half the dose is metabolized while half the dose remains.  But you're probably taking a pill once a day. So you reach a therapeutic level your physician intended you to be at, but the drug continues to slowly build beyond that therapeutic level the physician intended you to be at.  Digoxin is known for its narrow magrgin between therapeutic and toxic, so I would think your blood should be check frequently to ensure that you're at a  safe level.

What you're experiencing are common side effects of this drug.
A question for you:
For what condition are you taking Digoxin?
