I have been on metapropolol 25mg for about 7 years for high heart rate. I also have anxiety associated with that as well. And in fact, my doctor told me that some people take the metapropolol for anxiety, so it should not cause anxiety. You are probably just anxious bc of your high heart rate. I also agree with everyone else - its just bc you have been sick. It will even out. Hang in there!
thank you to everyone for the advice and odes anyone know if the metropal can cause aniexty thanks again guys
That heart rate is perfectly normal. Also, when your body is depleted of fluids, your blood pressure goes down and your heart rate compensates by going up. Your meds might still be working fine because your HR might be normally 90s to 100s if you didn't replenish your fluid level yet. Don't be scared. I've been on atenolol for 21 years. I change it, I've dealt with it when I'm sick...it has always been pretty good to me.
I agree with gwanda, and hope the flu symptoms have passed. If they have and your heart rate doesn't return to "nromal", I recommend you talk with your doctor. As for a short period of a (rest?) HR of 80-90, I wouldn't be overly concerned... if you are a senior the normal HR would be in the 70-80 range anyway, I believe. So a medicated HR in the 60-70 range you experienced in the past looks to be to be an excellent result for your medication. I take the same medication as you, at twice the dose, and due to AFib I'm lucky if my rest HR is in the 70s.
IF YOU HAD THE FLU SOME OF YOUR MEDS MAY BE LOST FROM YOUR BODY AS SOON AS YOU CAN KEEP MEDS IN YOU WILL EVEN OUT BUT WATCH YOUR MEDS WHEN THEY BUILD UP IN YOUR SYSTEM HEART RATE WILL GO LOWER YOU JUST HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT AND LET THE DOCTOR KNOW IF IT GOES TO LOW THEN THEY CAN ADJUST YOUR MEDS. HOPE THIS HELPS GWANDA
