I am going to relax about it and then take one more echo in about 1 year...
Thanks for your feedback
I have had several echocardiograms, forget how many, but at least 5 or 6. I don't recall ever having much for of a detailed discussion than looks normal (or me) - the abnormalities are no longer threatening. That said, while you EF is on the low side of normal, I don't see anything in what you say that would make me conclude that you have a basic disagreement between your two studies. I believe the echo is giving approximate readings in most cases anyway. So, unless something is really off the norm, it is taken as normal.
In my case we had been watching an enlargement problem due to a leaky mitral valve and a few years back my cardiologist said it was time to see a surgeon to see if surgery to correct the mitral valve was needed...to stop the ongoing enlargement of my left atrium. I had the surgery and have since always looked with interest on the size of the left atrium. About one year after surgery the size of the atrium was smaller, forget but say 10% smaller as an estimate. I figured "Good News", my surgeon said with the repair of my mitral valve my heart could shrink back toward normal. But, given my age not all the way back. My cardiologist was unimpressed with the result but agreed to do another follow up echo in 6 months to see what the size is then. On that echo the size came back to the original enlarged size...saying the difference was mostly due to variations in the interpretation of the echo.
An echo is not a micro-accurate measurement, so other than serious indications I think it is best to take a "normal" reading by the doctor to be sufficient clarity.
Sorry all the typing (few typos, I hope) couldn't provide much help, I am not an expert on reading echo results, so I can not make any estimates on your specific readings, other than the EF which being a number is easy to place on the "Normal Scale". Again, all measures are estimates.
