, what was your diagnosis? I am having an issue will low hemoglobin and Red Blood Cells. I have had numerous blood tests, including today. My blood level is 9.9 to 10.5. I am a male who is 48 years old. I am having heart palpitations and chest pain. I have had EVERY heart test and they say it isn't my heart.
Get your MINERAL LEVEL Checked. I too had heart palpitations & it's NOT normal and it's NOT to be taken lightly. I found out I was extremely ANEMIC. I had low to no IRON & Potassium. Heart Palps was warning sign of Stroke, heart attack, and possibly DEATH. On heavy dose of iron and has not experienced heart palps as of yet. It's been 5 years.
I mentioned this to my heart doctor and he just looked at me like I was an idiot. I get a messed up stomach (many things will set it off at one time and not another) and get dizziness and sometimes heart palpitations. I take an anti-anxiety pill and it calms down. Yesterday I had broccoli and today I had to crawl out of bed due to dizziness.
I had the same thing after eating and it ended up being a hiatal hernia and barret's esophagus. You need yo go yo a GI doctor.

This is vasovagal. I was diagnosed with a tilt test by an electrophysiologist which is a heart doctor that deals with electrical current in heart. Get a tilt test. The vagal nerve controls heartrate and if overstimulated by contractions while your body is trying to have BM you have awful symptoms. Mine started with weakness dizziness hot flash and sweating just before BM and has progressed to fainting unable to stand or walk freezing cold hands, palpitations and arrhythmia. As soon as bm is over the nerve stops being overstimulated and symptoms immediately end. I take toporol for the arrhythmia but there's nothing for vasovagal sadly. I take antacids to ensure I don't get diarrhea because the vasovagal will last all day. Don't eat anything spicy, acidic, or that usually gives you gas (gas contractions trigger as well) or anything that causes heartburn.
I thought I was crazy for thinking my bowel movements was involved. All this time they were connected? I've gotten to the point that I eat xanax like candy because after all of this started, I began having severe panic attacks. I'm even in therapy. And it all started with bowel issues? I feel like a complete fool for not mentioning it to my Dr. way back when it started. Thanks guys. Maybe now I can hopefully get back to feeling normal!
Hello again. After endless reading for almost a year I still am having episodes of gas and bowel related heart palpitations. I did figure out that gas fighting products with simithicone such as gas x help very much when I go into a-fib. The palps always stop if I have a bowel movement also. I dont know what I ever did to deserve this but I just deal with it the best I can. Its very scary when it happens but I have to accept this and not panic as I did in the past. I am always searching for others that may have found something that worked for them. Please share your thoughts. Sharing ideas might help all of us to get better.
That sounds promising. Can you keep us updated on how it is going. If it works can you post what natural path you took to help rid yourself of the h pylori bacteria. I would be very interested to hear about it.
Just tested positive for h pylori infection and going to begin natural treatment aoon. They say this infection could be causing all my heart related stomach issues. Might be something to look into.
p.s., no formal connection has every been proven in a modern medical study.
I wish I could remember the name of it, but some German doctors described this as a syndrome back in the early 1900s but modern medicine now ignores it for some strange reason.
Some swear it's related to a hiatel hernia. Most people have this, I know for sure that I do. The theory here is that lower intestinal gas may cause the stomach to push up into the chest cavity and irritate the nerves going into the heart? This is pure amateur speculation. Most docs will call the notion idiotic. I tend to agree because there are cases with hiatel hernias so bad their entire stomach ends up in the chest cavity, with no reported palps. Also,if you've ever seen a movie of the heart in action, there's all sorts of things pushing up against it and moving with it (such as the liver and lungs). I dismiss it myself.
I've also heard of people having this pulled down by their chiropractor. There's a technique used to move the haitel hernia back down. I've heard these people swear it worked for them, though it's always temporary.
What I think it going on is signalling on the ANS (the nerves i spoke about above) might be getting into the heart nerves too. It is documented that changes on to cause speed changes on the heart can certainly trigger ectopic activity. So it makes more sense than other speculation.
The nerves that control bowel muscles also innervate the heart. Many people report a connection like this.
By palpitations do you mean skipping and jumping or a fast beat? There is a strong connection between skipping and jumping heart palpitations and gas irritating the vagus nerve. I might suggest trying to address the gas issue and seeing if that will clear up the palpitations. I had what I can only describe as a pretty serious issue with gas that I never really addressed because I didn't really know what to do about the issue. There isn't much online about it. In Oct I got a really bad bout of palpitations pacs/pvcs having about 10 - 15 thousand a day for about a week. It got so bad I wound up inadvertently fasting for a couple of days. I mostly had a banana a little granola and water and to my surprise I started to feel better and all the crazy gas is virtually gone. The palpitations are now down to more manageable 100 tops a day. So my advice really is to see if you can address the gas issue, maybe try some antacids and see if that helps. But just for your piece of mind, what is going on is likely nothing to be concerned about but more something we all just have to learn how to accept and deal with if we can't totally rid ourselves of the palpitations. If your issue is a fast beat it also is likely nothing to be too concerned about but either way you may want to make an appointment with your doctor just to get the overall health of your heart evaluated. Once you know it is structurally fine, which it likely is especially in the absence of any troubling symptoms like shortness of breath or fainting, but once you know your heart is structurally fine you may find your symptoms ease up just for the simple fact anxiety and stress can make them worse. In any event since it seems like you feel the situation is worsening just go get checked out. Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing.
