Holter Monitor report, palpitations

is this normal for the heart to do this. the doctors didnt say much.

what does this mean?

1) Predominant rhythm was sinus.

2) Maximum heart rate was 125 beats per minute occurring at 1:41 p.m. Minimum heart rate was 36 beats per minute occurring at 9:47 am. average heart rate was 64 beats per minute

3) there were rate atrial ectopy consisting of a single isolated premature atrial complex.

4) There was frequent venticular ectopy with 1,985 isolated premature ventricular complexes, 6 beats in ventricular bigeminy, 2,234 in ventricular trigeminy and 1 ventricular couplet.

5) There were no pauses or arrests.

6) Chest tightness occured during normal sinus rhythm and palpitations were assiciated with sinus bradycardia.

Number 4 scares me more than others. what does it means.

It means you had 4200 or so premature beats mostly in the ventricles of varying patterns.  One in the atria.  In an otherwise healthy heart cardiologist don't do much beyond prescribing beta blockers.  It isn't until the number reaches upwards of 20,000 that it becomes a concern.  Has the general health of the heart been evaluated?  I would suggest at least having an echo done to check on the structure of the heart.  If it is fine then it mostly becomes a matter of managing the big triggers.  Avoid caffeine, sugars and carbohydrates.  Spicy meals.  Heavy and large meals.  Chocolate and anything else that may upset the stomach or cause acid reflux.  Try to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water.  Make sure you do a proper warm up and cool down when exercising and try to address and manage any stress and anxiety in your life which are big triggers.  Other than that the less attention we give them the less they will bother us.  I know easier said than done sometimes but it they really are intolerable to you then try the beta blockers and see if it helps.  Many people have them live to have full lives so try to not let them take control of you.  You take control of them.  But do get your heart fully evaluated if you haven't already.  Like I said, if your heart is structurally normal they aren't anything to worry about.  Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing.
