How easy it is to wean off beta blocker, Bisoprolol 2.5mg per day?

Hi there Members,

I am taking Bisoprolol-fumarata 2.5mg per mornings. I take it because of anxiety, heart rate goes up quickly and stays there for a while. I would like to try alternatives (like Mg and Vit Bs) but they don't go well with the beta blocker, so I should stop it.

My question is: has any of you wean off 2.5mg of Bisoprolol? I believe it is not a big dose, but still afraid ofwean off symptoms.

I did it this way: I cut the pills in half and used half a pill for 10 days and then I took half a pill every other day, again for ten days, and then I stopped altogether.

Thank you for your prompt reply, Occupant! Did you also took the same amount, 2,5mg per day? If so, have you felt any withdrawal symptoms, like elevated blodd pressure or heart rate, maybe anxiety? Thank you!

No, I took Toprol XL or the generic Metoprolol Succinate, but I don't think you'll notice anything as far as blood pressure is concerned. In my experience Beta Blockers don't have much effect on blood pressure anyway.

Thanks! I am more worried about the heart rate!
