I guess I dont know anything.

I was diagnosed with SVT 9 years ago. I have always took toporol for the SVT and it slowed or went away same as the palpitations. Well 1 month my heart went into a episode that would not quit; the doctors said it was pac premature atrial contractions. I decided to go to a better hospital they said the same thing. Finally, I went to another hospital that recommended a cardiac work up. The doctor had me do 30 event monitor, she said there she found that the bottom part of my heart was misfiring and that I need to see an electric doctor; who would do an ablasion on the right side and fix the problem. Now, my palpitations are quite frequent, but the firing problem only lasted about 7 beats 1 time in the 30 days. I take 200 mg of toporol now a day. Is anyone else's palpitations this way? I am so scared sometimes. Is this firing problem dangerous? Is there anything that I need to be persistent about such as meds and things afterwards? I want to repeat, I am so scared.

I completely agree w. Jerry except that what i can add is i had the ablation as did many of us on this site and it changed my life completely.  Like Jerry said for most of us it is a cure.Nothing to be scared of at all...the ablation is fast, easy and pretty painless and i found it to be easier than a root canal believe me.  Remember they give you meds during the procedure so you don't remember a thing and trust me you won't and you'll be lucky if you remember anything else that went on 3 days after...its a no brainer...don't be afraid...its a common procedure and my doc at the time 3 years ago had done more than 1500 of the ablations and i am sure by now its over 2,000....relax you aren't going to have anything bad happen to you before the procedure...just get it fixed.....good luck

You will be alright.

The only medication issue is to be sure to take you toprol, you level is high enough to cause problems if you suddenly stop.

The right side of the heart is the safest (easiest) side to do an ablation on and while I have never had one myself I have read many reports of that type ablation going well with a speedy recovery. Your young age should also help you recover.  The ablation offers the possibility of a cure, no more medications.  You doctor can tell you what to expect.  I'll tell you to try not to worry, this operation/procedure is widely used and again the right side is the easiest side to work on.

Wishing the best, be positive and optimistic, it will go just fine.
