SVT frequesncy

I was diagnosed with SVT about 3 years ago.  When I first noticed it I was getting it probably once every week or two.  At the time I had a very stressful job, and it seemed it exacerbated the SVT.  When I was in a less stressful situation I felt better.
So over the past 3 years it has been fairly infrequent, probably less than once a month.  More recently I have noticed it a little more and worried it is coming back.  I am also a little more stressed than usual so don't know if anxiety is an SVT trigger.  I have read that over time SVT's usually decrease, and am hoping this increase is temporary.

Has anyone had similar experiences?
Also, I can usually feel when they'll start, sort of like a pressure in my throat, then BOOM, they start.  My symptoms are mostly faster than normal heart rate, and the feeling my heart will leap out of my throat!

Hi....just a thought maybe you could give your hert doc a call and see if the meds are still an option for you.  You may not feel as tho they're doing much but as they say when you can't feel your heart its a great thing and believe it or not in the last 3 years alot of meds have changed and the level of dosage as well.  At least you'll rest a little easier and won't be so worried knowing that you are taking what the doctors deem as a preventative for your heart.  Regardless if you are noting changes in your body again time for another check up.  They say w. SVT's and  A Fib that you may have an espisode and then nothing for maybe a week a month 5 years etc.  With SVT's as A Fib it has a mind of its own and does what it wants when it wants.  For the 50.00 you'll spend on the appt. w. the doc you'll be informed on what is going on with your heart.  Don't wait until you hit a bad spot and end up in an E.R. which we all know isn't cheap.  Not to mention all of the anxiety you'll go through afterwards.  It'll be the best 50.00 you ever spent i bet....good luck.....

thanks Cindy!
Yes, I had numerous workups done at the time, the last being about 3 years ago, but the only medication I had was optional and I stopped it because it was not doing too much.  I did see a specialist as well.

The symtoms that you are describing are very typical w. SVT...the almost like warning you get in your throat or neck before it happens, feeling like your hearts going to jump out of your chest...yep all pretty common.  And anxiety and stress can set them off along w. caffeine, chocolate, just about anything.  You said you were diagnosed w. it 3 years ago....did you see a heart doc?  Did they put you on any meds?  If it were my body i would make an appt. w. a heart doctor to have it checked out and if its not too frequent maybe he/she could put you on a 30 day monitor to really find out whats going on because we can't just wish or explain it away hoping that it won't happen again.  Why take the chance?
