Mitral valve prolapse

I am a 22 year old man.I have Mitral Valve Prolapse.Due to this i have very irregular of fast heartbeats. what medicine should i take to control my fast heartbeat and anxiety.Plz help!!

I read your brief post to say your arrhythmia has not been diagnosed: for example Atrial or Ventrical based, or both...or flutter or fibrillation.  Each of these may respond to Toprol (Metoprolol) so I agree that's something to ask about.  

How do you know you have a Mitral valve problem, was an echocardiogram done?

What is your current at rest heart rate?  If it is between 60 and 100 most would consider that to be acceptable and not requiring treatment.

If you stomach can tolerate aspirin I'd recommend you take one a day at meal time until you doctor advises otherwise.

have you done a stress test? how often are your episodes? did doc say you had mitro valve prolapse or supra ventricular tachy cardia,maybe ask your doc about toporol xl

Thank you for your comments! Ma'am! I have consulted a doctor and he advised me "propananol", but no good.Yes i am very puzzled and anxious about it  , because i never felt i had something!!

Sorry to hear how anxious you are about this. Have you seen a cardiologist about this? Many people who experience tachycardia are often prescribed some type of Betablocker.

If you haven't seen a Dr yet, that should be your next stop:) Best of luck to you and let us know how it works out for you!
