I noticed that you said the chamber doesn't have enough time to fill up. In another post I mention that one of the sensations that I feel is that of emptiness in my heart. No blood. No beats
You might want ro ask your doc if any bigeminy showed up on your rhythm strips. I get this now and then and it does make me feel a little wobbly if it goes on too long or if I'm in the middle of vigorous exercise when it occurs.
What's going on in my case, as shown by my EKG, is that every other beat is a benign PVC. When the heart tosses off a PVC, the ventricle does not have a chance to fill upl as much as usual, and the result is a weak beat, actually so faint as to be difficult to feel at your wrist.
Then there's the natural pause between beats, during which the ventricle has a chance to get a little fuller than usual. The heart is obligated to try to pump out all the blood that enters it, and as a result, this contraction is a big, strong BOOM! One you really feel.
Iff you have your finger on your pulse (a very bad and uninformative practice for patients, btw) at this time, you will perceive what feels like half the normal heart rate.
It's not actually halved, but the PVCs are not very effective at moving blood around, so if this whole business goes on long enough, you can feel a bit short of breath--and it WILL be made worse by anxiety.
A very slow heart rate is called bradycardia. There are different causes for it. I get it occasionally where I'm walking along feeling fine, HR maybe in the low 70's and bam - it drops to about 1/2 speed. I get very light headed and need to sit down. Fortunately it doesn't last long but it's not fun.
You may have some kind of heart block (there are several types). But an electrophysiologist (EP cardio) could help with this.
It appears that I am locked out again and perhaps it was a mistake posting the password dilemma here especially if I can not get help.
Finding my way around the medhelp forum has been a little challenging and I have posted about my erratic heart rhythms in the SVT forum too.
There are a few different heart rhythm issues that my primary doctor calls "the electrical" part of the heart. He claims that his part has to do with " the plumbing".
In any event, beside the SVT's that have finally been detected I get this rhythm problem that seems to be the exact opposite of SVT in that my heart rate when working out suddenly dives down from ( approx ) 133 to 43. So far I have not been able to get a name for this nor has a doctor told me that such a phenomena exist.
Has anyone heard of this and if so what is it called?
What might be the consequences?
Obviously this post made it to the list. Do you have a question/issue concerning heart rhythm?
