The thing that I think is good about wearing that monitor is that there are really a lot of conditions that can be picked up by a simple EKG - I didn't realize it myself until I started researching it. So if nothing is showing on the EKG, the odds are very good that it is not heart related. Given the tests that have already been done, if at the end of the cardionet you still have no answers, I'm wondering if the gastrointestinal system should be the next thing to look into. All kinds of gastro issues can be right in the middle of the chest, where the esophagus empties into the stomach.
Hopefully someone a little more medically savvy than me can answer your question. You might also consider posting in the gastroenterology forum, just to see if anyone has had similar experiences.
Hi,no thiers not anything that shows it coming in a certain pattern or certain times of the day or anything.Comes all diffrent times.Mostly always while sitting though.Always feels the same way when it starts but sometimes its stronger then others. The really bad ones Ive had 3 times the ones that arent as strong are the ones I get more frequently. Its not anything that has to do with stress or panic attacks.I know my body very well and I know what im feeling is not normal for me.I just dont know what else I should be looking into if its not my heart thats causing it.Someone mentioned to me to look into hormonal problems but like I said it feels like it comes right from my chest and then all the other symptoms follow. Its a terrible feeling and has me very worried to what it could be.I hate not getting any answers and and more upset about the fact its not being detected on the heart monitor so its just a problem Im having with so many unanswered questions.
Very unusual in my experience that you can feel a heart activity that can not be picked up on a heart monitor - I assume a three-point EKG.
Given you hear history I would assume you've had one or more echocardiogram readouts. And I also assume a full cardio exam is carried out before an ablation is done ...this I don't know from experience.
Hi Jana -
Sorry to hear about your recent issues. Ordinarily I'd suggest that a person is stressed out and that that or panic or something might be causing the problem, but it seems you're a veteran of heart issues, so you probably have a better sense for that than many. That you have a cardionet monitor on is great - I assume the reason for the monitor is these newer symptoms you've been having.
I guess the good news is the monitor isn't showing anything - a lot of problems can be detected via ECG, so a normal result seems to eliminate a lot of possibilities. And it looks like you're already in the care of a doctor, so that's another positive thing.
Has there been any pattern to the symptoms? Time of day, before certain activities, during or after?
Hey Jerry thanks for the comment. No im talking about the monitor from cardionet you wear at home 24 hours a day.Ive been on it for 2 weeks now and will be on it for another 2 weeks. So far the symptoms im complaining about are not showing any irregular heart beats so Im confused to what may be causing this problem. It feels like its my heart but its not showing any irregular beats or arrithmias. Its a daily problem now and I dont know what else to look into that would be doing this.Could it be something else going on with my heart that wouldnt be irregular beats?
When you say "on the heart monitor" are you referring to something like the athletic chest strap and wrist watch type readout many of us own? If that's what you are talking about, then it may be time to get your doctor to put you one a medical heart monitor for 24 hours or more. That type monitor will give the doctor solid data on what your heart is doing when you are experiencing the heart rhythm problem(s).
