WPW Issues

Hey everyone, I have been dignosed with WPW for a few years now taking 50 mg of beta blockers a day, I am 21 years old and in great shape. Recently I have been havign alot of problems with getting dizzy, light headed and very hot (the feeling before a person gets sick) some chest squeezing and gettign an upset stomac, I also get weird instant dizzy feelings like I am moving when im actually not quight often during the day, it only lasts a second or less but it is very frequent. I have been to emerg around 5 or 6  times in the last few months because I feel like I am going to have a heart attack. This issue went from happing once in a while to once a month and now almost everyday. What im wondering is these symptoms dont include a rapid or slow heart rate and im wondering if there is an underlaying issue here other then wpw? I am schedueled to see an eps specialist but I have been in the hospital 3 night in a row now and starting to get worried with no answers form anyone I have seen all the emerg doctors say is maby I have an issue with stress or anxioty but i do not think that is the issue. Thanks so much for the answers in advance :)

Thanks for the reply! I have been taking the BB for about 3 weeks now and at first they worked really well, then all of a sudden I was back to the same symptoms but much more frequent and worse, yea we have talked about ablation and I am going to see an EPS study specialist very soon so hopefully I can get something out of that!

How long have you been taking beta blockers, the whole of the experience with WPW?

BB can lower both blood pressure and heart rate and these, especially if combined and extreme, will cause some dizziness.  I have had the problem myself, but at only at much higher dose than 50 mg.  BB have a long list of possible problem side-effects.

Have you had any discussions with your doctor about an Ablation to cure the WPW?  I understand that is an effective cure... but then you may not have serious symptoms that would justify such an action.  As far as you current set of symptoms, I can not say without looking up a description of WPW to say if they could be related to WPW.  The "normal" symptoms are listed and discussed on past posts of this Community (Forum).   Take a look at:  http://www.medhelp.org/search?query=WPW+Symptoms&camp=top_nav_search
