Thank you for posting this. My son is 21. He called from work a little short of breath. I brought him an Ativan from my anti anxiety medicine, which sort of helped. The next day I bought a pulse ox, so that if he felt that again we could see if it was just anxiety (if his oxygen was ok when he felt short of breath). The next day, after a warm shower we noticed his heart rate...100. Then just before he left for work, just standing... 130 bom! I freaked and we drove him to the closest ER 30 miles away. 110 bpm when we checked him. They did NOT do an EKG then. After making him wait in a hallway bed unmonitored for 3 hours, he was 88 n by then of course EKG normal. Told us to bring him back if it hit 130 again which seemed difficult realizing that was probably his normal active pulse. But the doc gave him 2 days off work so he can get to a cardiologist. Now at home we are keeping a log. Amazinly an hour after he was awake n sitting at his computer at rest... It was 90, okay good. Then checked 4 hours later still resting in front of computer... SEVENTY! WOW, but moments later he stood up, walked into the kitchen. For fun I checked... Now 103? That's a huge jump for just getting up. I can imagine when he works and is active it must easily go to 150. Thanks for posting, I was afraid he was going to die before I got him to a cardiologist. But I hear you and know my son is like u minus the water. Your both alive. There's hope! Also have a few ideas for cardiologist POTS and HYPOTHYROIDISM (which actually would fit other symptoms. Still getting him to a Cardiologist this week, but you've all given me hope my son will live another few days till I get him there. Thank You for hope. Will update you to help u in return.
go check out a doctor who are specialized in heart problems.... i don't think your heart rate have much to do with anxiety at all.
I had the same problem ... but it is not anxiety. the doctors think its anxiety but they never listen to you.. they say it is anxity... yes anxity CAUSED by a high heart rate.
in fact...you will GET anxity automatically if your heart
but go to your DOC ...
I agree, I would definitely see a cardiologist. So many doctors just shrug these symptoms off as anxiety, or other things, especially in younger folks like yourself.
I would ask for a complete blood work up and other tests to rule out anything serious.
You need to see a cardio.
Doctors have a bad habit of assuming anything to do with heart is just anxiety.
It could be an arrhythmia. It could be your thyroid. There are lots of things it could be.
Get a full blood work up, and if everything comes back normal, see a cardio.
See a doctor after you get out of bed, and get an EKG done. If you have an abnormal rhythm, get it treated. If you have ordinary sinus tachycardia, the cause should be found. I strongly suspect you have somewhat low blood pressure in the morning due to dehydration or sleeping in a warm room (dilated blood vessels and reduces blood pressure) and the body compensates by increasing the heart rate.
To a certain degree, this is a normal phenomenon. My heart rate is always somewhat unstable in the morning, and it tends to "fire" a little upon standing up or exercise. It's all caused by low blood pressure.
Conclusion: Get an EKG done during symptoms. If it's just sinus tachycardia (and it probably is) it's easily treatable.
