abnormal ekg

2 weeks ago today i took my six year old son to his doctor for an ear infection and his normal doctor was not there that day so we seen the other doctor in the office he asked me if they had ever told me he had a heart murmur which freaked me out right away he said it was possibly an innocent murmur which is normal in children his age so i kind of calmed down some but he sent us to a cardiologist and when we went today not only did we spend 4 VERY long hours in the office with my six and three year old lol but they said that the EKG had an abnormality he said it showed that his heart was pumping from the opposite  side that it was supposed to so they did an echo-cardiogram and he is now on a halter monitor for 24 hours and we have to go back next Wednesday for a stress test. He told me when we were leaving that the echo was normal and he didn't see anything wrong... So im confused and wondering if i should be worried about the upcoming test or if he is just doing the as a precaution. I am very scared and worried for my sons health and he didnt elaborate to much about the echo so im guessing now that the echo did not show that it was pumping from the opposite side?  I just do not know what to think now lol i was under the impression that it was still pumping that way and he said it was nothing to worry about until i spoke to a friend who is nursing school and she started explaining things to me and now im wondering if the EKG was just a misread or what.. very frustrated now at 11 pm and not knowing what to think..

there was never any explanation of much really but once i thought about it last night today i am a little less stressed because i know he said the echo was normal and he didnt see anything was wrong so i really think that the monitor and the stress test next week are precautions to make sure they are not missing anything and hopefully there was just a mess up with the EKG idk im still worried of course but im pretty sure that if what he had said the EKG was showing didnt show up in the ECHO then it was something wrong with the EKG

I don't know enough to give an opinion but I rather think you have the right to call the office and ask some clarifying questions.  Get your questions in order and call and ask whomever answers and I am sure someone will call back with a response. It sounds like he is ok but don't wait a week to find out call today.  Cardiologists can be very nonchalant about things so have them explain themselves.  Take care and keep us posted on his results.

Did he mention anything about the possible transposition of the aorta and pulmonary artery coming off the heart?. In this situation, the aorta comes off the right ventricle instead of the left ventricle. The pulmonary artery comes off the left ventricle instead of the right ventricle. This causes blood without oxygen to be pumped to the body, instead of blood with oxygen.
