alternative meds for tachy- SOS! hair loss + alcohol

Someone please tell me what I can take instead of prescribed heart pills.
I don't have a blood pressure problem, I just have heart racing. It's
only worse the morning after I drink. I am on 360mg which is WAY too
high and I can't take beta blockers becuase they give me hypoglycemic
symptoms and my hair is falling out BAD. I'm dealing with fine, thin
angel hair . I am devastated. Is there ANY vitamins, supplements, etc
that anyone can recommend so I can get off this verapamil?
QUESTION #2
Why does my heart race the most after drinking?  (even w/ 360mg of verapamil)
If I quit taking it, how long will it take for my hair to get back to normal
if I quit taking it?
I don't have patches missing, it's ALL thinning consistently all over my head
the worst is around my forehead, like I barely have bangs.
HELP?
any suggestions?  . I'm devastated . there's got to be something
alternative I can take.
Thanks

Hi! Good luck with your supplements. I did not remember it being mentioned by magnesium helps with heart/tachycardia too. Get a good magesium citrate- less likely to cause diarrhea and take 400 daily.
Also Perimenopause/hormones can cause these issues. I am 49 and my cardio told me it will hopefully get better after menopause... I am praying so since I never had any heart problems before in my life.
Good luck to you.

Thanks for all the suggestions. . Ya know what? . I looked at my post after the fact
and realize I didn't give whole pic. I do have hypothyroidism and was hyper at one
point but got that under control. I am a dehydrated person even when I don't
drink. And the biggest of all is I'm going thru perimenapause. I haven't had  a touch
of alcohol since Sunday and my heart still races in the morning . .It's not just
the alcohol. I got up this morning and heart was out of control, but I am not
a thirsty person so don't keep hypdrated during the day, my heart races w/out
alcohol. I wanted to thank you all , I didn't take any heart pill back in Feb for 2 weeks
and had no problems.. . Btw, I only have sunis tach, had all the heart tests,
ekg, echo, even monitor, etc. nothing except simple sinus tach.
My other question I forgot to ask was how do you exercise to get your HR down
and  razzi answered that. I don't understand the concept about exercising
to get your heart rate down. I've heard of this, but walking 3 miles where I live
is not an option really, can I jog in place in my house or something? . . I don't
really have the money to go to the gym nor treadmill at this point.
Thank you all for the insight this has been going on for a year. As far as being
emotional, I was born that way and HR gets out of control when I'm very angry
or upset. I am upset about my hair but not really emotional , just desperate
really for answers and insight.
Thank you all. And I will look into those supplements.

I think the preceding advice from people has been excellent, i used to have the same issue, and I cut out alcohol altogether, and do walk 3 miles every day at a fairly brisk pace at around 3.5 miles per hour. This has seemed  to help alot, and the last thing I do is take arjuna flow, which most health food stores carry under different brand names, which has not only slowed my heart rate down, but has also helped with blood pressure. I used to be at 135/85, and now am at 105/65, My resting heart rate was at 72, and is now 55. and my heart now very very rarely does anything "tachy". I am sure the combination of these things have helped, not only the arjuna flow, but I do feel it has been a huge help as well, with no side effects

Also depending on how much you alcohol you drink can lead to dehydration. Dehydration in a tach patient at first causes their heart rate to increase then fall later. Also drinking at night and falling asleep can trigger sleep apnea which cause higher heart rate and bp in the morning after waking.

Your hair probably won't go back it may though, my thinned from taking Lisinopril for 3 years, and I doubt it will come back. Is it Sinus Tach you are suffering from if so and no underlying heart problems (like heart failure) a good fish oil pill like (NEW Chapter Wholemega) can help. It may make it worse though so you will have to monitor it, Fish Oil does that to some people makes their Tach worse. Vitamin C 1000 mg a day is good for anyone as long as they have good kidney function. COQ10 100mg would help as well. Hawthorn Berry as well could work but as long as you have normal bp take a small dose same with COQ10 you might want to take 50mg instead of 100mg. Folic Acid 800mg a day as well could help. Drinking a glass of red wine a day could as well. Also walking 3 times a week will strengthen you heart and may cause you hr to go down some as little as a month. Get your doctor to check you Iron count, B12 count, and thyroid all of those are markers for tachycardia.

Stop drinking (alcohol I assume), is my recommendation.

Much of your high heart rate may be due to your emotional state as indicated by your post, that's all I have to go on.  So, getting yourself settled down somehow will help, please don't do it by taking a drink.

I don't know the effect of alcohol on the HR, but I bet it doesn't help.  Further there are many stimulants in our diets we can cut out, caffeine in its many forms is chief among them.  There are also over the counter medication for colds and allergy symptoms that can cause problems.

So, rather than looking for more supplements, I think a better course if removing aggrivations.  This could lead to a lower dose of the prescription medication, and that would be great too.

Sorry about the hair loss, is that listed as a side effect for your medication?  If it isn't, then the hair loss may be due to some other cause.
