Apparently, 16% of men and 19% of women in the USA have LVH. I found this reassuring as I have mild LVH and the fact that it isn't 'rare' makes me feel better.
YEP, YOU WERE RIGHT I WAS TALKING ABOUT LVH, SORRY TO JERRY , I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CLEAR. I'M LEAVING SHORTLY FOR AN APPT. WITH A CARDIOLOGIST. NEED SOME ANSWERS ON THE CAUSE OF ALL THIS. (THE LVH AND MILDLY ENLARGED LFT ATRIUM)ANYWAY, THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR INPUT AND ADVICE:) NICOLE.
I think she meant LVH, left ventricular hypertrophy.
I have a little of that myself - I don't think mine was called borderline, but it was on the higher end of normal, if I recall. I don't remember the exact thickness and volume measurements.
I don't know if you had a discussion with your doctor following that echo, but I would certainly do that. But in general, I would think that if you feel up to working on your elliptical machine, you should do so. I don't think that by exercising you are going to make your heart worse.
My cardiologist told me that there wasn't anything she would preclude me from doing, and I would imagine you'd get similar advice when you spoke to your doctor.
In my opinion the main problem expressed in your post is unnecessary worry.
There is some evidence that a drink or two is fine for most people, binge drinking is not good for anyone. I am not going to put a number on what "binge" is, but it is generally more than three drinks in my book. Many will say no alcohol is the best practice, but I see no harm if a drink or two, even often, usually with a meal.
The IVH is a new one on me, looking it up I find: Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is bleeding inside or around the ventricles, the spaces in the brain.... is this what your are talking about? I assume the "echo" you refer too was not an echocardiogram. Or if it was, it wasn't where you got the IVH diagnosis. I can't comment on this and perhaps no one else has responded for the same reason, not sure this is even related to heart rhythm, but given the fact that you have that condition I think it very wise to discuss the use of alcohol with the doctor who ordered the test that discovered the IVH.
