afib and hcm

I have been diagnosed with HCM  and AFIB been taking sotalol 120, w/prodaxa, and divalproex sod 500 for my seizure.  I am only 34 and this all started happening at once when I was 32.  Nothing Is working with my heart meds I am scheduled to be switch to Tikyson.  My episodes are horrible my left hand arm goes numb and my chest feels really heavy this only last for about 3-5minutes but if I move before it ends i then go into a fast beet over 200 beats per min they have my pace maker set at a pace 220 for 34beats.  If i am out of beat for 24 of the 32 I get shocked and yes, I have been shocked .  I guess my question is just help me do you think tykason is the best choice for me I am a black female age 34

Hello.I am 53 yr old.I have ICD due to one episode of vfab 8 yrs ago.3 yrs ago I came down with afib that calcium blocker controled for 3yrs.Since last Feb.I was put on tikosyn, pradaxa and cardizem.Tikosyn was too strong. It took my body more than one month to adjust to that notorious medication. It works, but it has side effects on the long run.I am leaning toward ablation ,maybe if I am luckyit will stop my afib and stop medications.

Tikyson is one of the stronger medications and I know my cardiologist and the associated EP would require implementation in a hospital environment.  I decided no to do it, but my AFib is symptoms are controlled with a simple beta blocker - I am in permanent AFib, but do not feel the irregular heart beat. I would take your doctor's recommendations to try Tikyson if it were me in your situation (as I understand it from your post).

You mention a pacemaker and ICD, so I assume ablation has already been done or at least discussed.  At your young age I think you should at least discuss ablation with your doctors.  Ablation is never 100% effective and doctors will (normally I believe) not recommend an ablation unless they are comfortable that the chance of a success is high.
