It could be as alcohol dehydrates ur body then maybe dehydration is the cause for palpitation
I already have arrhythmia problems and I've found drinking alcohol triggers them. I don't drink wine or hard liquor. At most I can handle about 6 oz of a lite beer. I admit a bit of cold beer on a hot summer day is nice. But then again, so is iced tea. :-)
If you already have arrhythmia issues, this may be a trigger for you and you will have to adjust to that. Or it may have been a simple case of overindulgence and dehydration as r9c mentioned. Ease up on the drinking and you may be just fine.
Yes, there can be a big-time connection between heart arrhythmias and drinking alcohol. I realize alcohol is considered a depressant but for me just a couple of sips of wine can be a stimulant to my system causing my heart to respond with palpitations. You may already know, there are many different triggers, one of them being caffeine as in tea or coffee. Our hearts are sensitive to many things.
Yes, there is something called "holiday heart syndrome" Google it. It happens often enough that docs have given it a name.
