Ha! That is so funny I spit my milk out. But it doesn't surprise me. I went there when I got robbed once and had a broken face. The doctors littereally walk around with a staple gun yelling at patients , most of whom are handcuffed to the bed, and staple people's wounds together. It's like the one thing they know how to do. You have a gunshot wound? Ok, we give you staples. You have the flu? Staples will make you better.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the big hospital docs. St. Luke's, NYU Langone, St. Vincent's etc. Let us know how it goes.
Call dr Aizer at 2122633600. I vouch for him as being among the best as both a physician and as a consultant through your treatment/management.
i stand corrected. i have only been there for ER, and it wasn't a good experience. (for one, i'm 20 and was taken to the pediatrics wing...enough said).
St Luke's has one of NYC top EP's - Dr. Jonathan Steinberg. If he is looking for a top doctor, that is one of the places he should look into.
Yes, I'm a patient of Dr. Aizer. He's the absolute best. I came to him after 3 different attempts with others that either didn't know what was going on and didn't share my urgency to find out or else just told me "you are ok" and didn't explain. Dr. Aizer is not only an increadably skilled electrophysiologist by my measure, but he also is very concerned with your understanding of your condition.
I live near King's County Hospital in BK and it is an absolute disgrace to the medical profession. Almost all the doctors were trained in the Carribean (just a note: the parent company of University of Phoenix on line owns and opperates most of the medical schools down there) and the cardiology team might not even be able to locate your heart on an anatomy slide. The triage and ER nurses show no sense of urgency when you come in with a heart problem...I've walked in there about 6 times with serious arrhytmia, to the point where I was sure I would need defibrillation and they just tell me to stand in line while they look at some kid's stubbed toe. And when you get in there, they can't even type with more than one finger so it takes forever.
Stay away from King's County. If you have a gunshot wound, they are good, if you have a heart condition, go somewhere else.
i'm not familiar with kings county (i know of it but never went there). i live in nyc (morningside heights) and i would go to Lenox Hill, Columbia Presby, NYU, and Mt Sinai (in that order). (NOT St. Luke's; it's in my neighborhood and i'm not impressed by it).
Hi there-
I live in NYC and had an ablation done last year. I actually went up to New Haven, CT to get it done which was probably a mistake. In any case, when I was having trouble afterwards I went to NYU in the City and met with a doctor name Dr. Anthony Aizer who is an electrophysiologist. His number is 212-263-3600. His office is right next to NYU on 33rd and 1st.
If I lived in NYC area I would look into NYU, Columbia Presby, or St. Lukes-Roosevelt. I am not familiar with Kings County.
Your on the right path, be sure where ever you go they have a specialized unit dealing with the heart and better that they (the hospital) has a good track record with the procedure you are considering. Do the same "due diligence" on selecting a doctor, get one who does the procedure "all the time".
