Hemorrhoid/fissure

Just curious as to whether or not a hemorrhoid can cause a fissure? About a month and a half ago I ended up having multiple instances of diarrhea. It led to two weeks of soreness. It was almost gone and then another bout with diarrhea brought it right back. I was finally feeling better and now it's hit for a third time. Upon visual inspection, it looks like there is loose skin protruding from my anal cavity and if I pull my cheeks apart, it seems like there is a tiny fissure at the beginning of the loose skin. I've never really had hemorrhoids before so was just wondering if this is what they sound like. I have no blood on my toilet paper but do experience pain when wiping and pain with a BM. The pain is fairly minor but I usually have about two weeks of a burning sensation. Any answers would be appreciated. Trying to get to my doctor but it's a nightmare with my work schedule!

Thank you so much for the answer. I have an appointment with a doctor in about two weeks to discuss some issues I've been having and felt like asking questions on here would help me until then. Can hemorrhoids cause an almost constant burning sensation? I find it's worse after I have a bowel movement or pass gas. There seems to be loose skin protruding from my anal cavity so I'm assuming that's an external hemorrhoid. It's not thrombosed though and literally feels like extra skin.
