Am I immune to Hep B forever?

Hi ppl, as u can see I am a new face...well new nick anyways. Was stoked to find a forum like this one.  *VeRTiGo waves*  I am hoping this place is non-judgemental as am I. Ok, I got a Naltrexone Implant for addiction to the opiate medication I was prescribed for "chronic pain not responding to non-narcotic analgesia", and as these implants are generally known for treatment of heroin addiction by blocking the effects of opiates, the clinic where I had it done (yes, the Saintly Legend Dr George O'Neil himself!!!! I am in in Australia) they screen patient's bloods, for blood-borne diseases and such as many would be at very high risk. On my follow-up visit, the Doctor I saw said I had liver damage and that the tests showed that I suffered Hep B in the past but my body had cleared it itself. I had absolutely NO idea or symptoms and have no clue as to when I had Hep B and of course I feel sooooo lucky to not have it!!!! (although the fact that I love a drink means the liver damage is a bummer!) The only thing I can ever remember in the past that seemed anything at all like it may have been, in hindsight a symptom was stabbing pains occasionally between my navel and the start of my ribs I think. I didn't have it for long enough to bother getting it checked out so surely it wasn't symptoms of Hepatitis???? I have a very low pain theshold which makes me even more surprised. I was so shocked when the Doctor gave me this news that I forgot to ask if they were able to detect what type I'd had. It's been nearly 2 years since the implant and the news but after reading about the different types of Hep B on Medhelp I just wondered if anyone may have a clue as to my chances of immunity I would be really grateful. Thanx heaps.

Thanks lots for your reply cajim, but am I able to get a home-testing kit from the chemist or something? Hoping that didn't sound too dumb. I ask this cos the clinic I had this done at is in the city about 400km from here and my GP in the town where I live doesn't even *know* about the incidious addiction I got from his prescriptions (and he can't know cos he is a real sweetie and would feel guilty as hell if he knew about implant). Small kinda town too.

Test your HBsAB, if positive you are immune.
