Hi has anyone taken hepatitis b medicine for over 5 to 10 years and more with no side effects or kidney damage? If yes, what are your side effects and how many years already on medication?

Thank u very much for your reply... it makes me feel better , now I can reassure and start my treatment which is vemlidy.. thx u
Stef, it is good to see that your are down to 850 iu/ml. You're almost there. I feel  you are really close to clearing, but I know how hard that small number can be. I'll be asking for my hbsag in quantitative at my next appoint in April, since I've been on meds for 6 years now at that point. I'd be curious to see how my numbers look, especially since I've had a tough case. Still praying we all cure one day!

I see your question was moved to the Hepatitis B community a better place for it.

I see you have been asking about Vemlidy (tenofovir alafenamide) on other posts. This med was only US approved on November 10, 2016 so there is no long term data available for this medicine.

Here are a few helpful links about Vemlidy related to what is known about side effects.

As the more common side effects were only experienced by about 10% of patients that would mean 90% had no side effects. So the majority of people don’t have much in the way of side effects.

Try to anticipate good results don’t borrow trouble from a tomorrow that more than likely will never come.

You should ask this in the hepatitis B community. This is the liver cirrhosis community.

I also suggest you add to your question which medicine you are asking about.
