HVB Lab Results

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could share their opinion regarding my initially strange then seemingly totally normal HBV test results?

No previous diagnosis of HBV, but during routine testing this result appeared:
HB S AG W/relfex conf
HBsAG:  nonreactive
HB Core AB, Total:  Nonreactive
HB Core AB, IGM:  nonreactive
HeB Surface AB, QL:  Reactive
HBeAg:  Reactive
HBeAB:  Non reactive

A number of doctors were confused with these results. Liver tests then ordered and results:
ALT:  19, AST:  18.  All other liver values were within range.
Liver Ultrasound:  Slightly enlarged liver, no other abnormalities.
Physical exam by GI:  unremarkable

Re-tested by GI and Hepatologist:
HBsAG:  Nonreactive
HB Core AB, total: non reactive
HB surface AB: 525 "patient has immunity to HBV"
HBeAG:  nonreactive
HBeAB:  Nonreactive
HBV DNA < 29 IU/mL, HBV < 169 copies/mL
HBV DNA done by Cobas taqman using real time PCR.

I was retested at totally different lab testing company for a third time with the same results just listed above.

Was the first one a fluke?  All my doctors say the first one was a false-positive.  Has anyone else had lab values like my first one?

Thank you and best of luck to everyone in managing this terrible virus

are you sure they were doctors?
even the most ignorant nurse can read those tests so they must not be doctors or immediately banned from making furthur damage to patients

you are immune, were immune and no need to test hbvdna pcr at all, hbsab  reactive/hbsag non reactive was more than enough to see you were immune to hbv

my father just reversed early onset of diabetes 2, i just made him vit d25oh test because he had a stroke with no damage few years ago, has arterosclerosis, high cholesterol and so on...his vit d25oh was 11ng/ml and glucose was 115-125mg/dl (normal 100-105)

i put him on 10000iu d3 and he got vit d25oh 85ng/ml in about 3 months, now glucose is for the fist time normal range 85-90mg/dl and ldl is improving too (he had 125mg/dl under statins)

i am also giving him fibrogurd and mind function has improved a lot too, before this changes he was able to play cards or make heavy mind tasks anymore, now he s back to norma and plays cards as usual

so many many disease can be prevented by correct diet and optimum serum levels of key vitamins and this s very easy if you monitor blood vitamins and oxidative stress before the onset of uncurable diseases

Thank you for the reply.  We had a major storm here in the US that knocked out power for several days so that is why I didn't post sooner.

My friend is a physician and he said the same thing about Vit D.  I do use a lot of sunblock in the summer exactly because of all of the hype about direct sunlight and fair skin.  He said he would give me a Vit D injection when I see him next, but for now I am taking the over the counter supplements.  I did see how low Vit D can lead to health risks so I wont be fooling around with that.

I looked up the NGI testing website and it has "Labcorp" on the bottom of their website.  The third round of testing was done at a LabCorp facility.  My friend has those results which he hasn't been able to fax over to me, but I asked him to look at the sensitivity of the DNA test or what testing system they used.

I wont get any more HBV testing this year, but next year I will ask my doctor for another script and I will try to find one of the places that you recommended.

Thank you for your help,
Michael

if you dont have any financial problem and like to check as deep as possible just to feel ok and be 100% sure you dont have the less common occult hbv you may check the following:

europe or US (germany, france and italy have this available in research hospital which are open for all patients)
hbv ultra deep sequence of all regions, hbsag, core, polimerase

this company in US used to have the most sensible assay for hbvdna but i cant see it anymore on website, maybe FDA is giving them trouble...as usual they dont work for patients but to make trouble
the test was hbvdna superqual, you may try to contact them
http://www.ngi.com/

if you happen to come to europe anything is available since blood screening is not done by old assays but by abbott architect or siemens.public healthcare cant use old assays because you can sue them in case of mutants hbsag non detected because old technology

hbvdna sensibilty is between 6-10iu/ml

ultra deep sequence available in some hospitals in roma, milan, padova and maybe others

everything normal, vitamin d deficency is universal after the fake advertisment on avoiding direct sun or using sun creams, also our habits are different than before, we expose very little to sunlight.
so these low d values make impossible for macrophages and lymphos to get activated in case of disease or just lower their activation (researchers saw at microscope our lympho just ignoring pathogens because of lack of vit d for activation)

i do suggest to normalize vit d25oh to >50ng/ml for general health, cancer prevention, metabolic disease prevention by d3 supplements

as regards hbv you dont have the tests in US to see the hbsag/core/polimerase mutations.hospitals and research are not open to patients there like in europe so i suggest to look for:
abbott architect, siemens hbsag (dont remember latest model but we posted somewhere if you put siemens in search box community it will come out), roches hbsag quant.these should be the way to test blood for transfusions otherwise blood is not safe, and they can capture almost all hbsag mutants (the siemens is the best for this), they also have higest sensibility

Hi Stef2011,

Despite my doctors (multiple) and my family telling me not to worry about HBV, I am still concerned about whether or not I have any form of it.  A lot of people have gotten "sick" around me, and it is odd that nothing came up when I was tested.

I was reading some of the other posts about HBV and one was about Vitamin D.  I looked back at my labs to see that my Vit D-25 Hydroxy is low:  28.8ng/ml.  As is my Apolipoprotein B:  47 mg/dl.  T3 is low as well at 78ng/dl.  MCHC is high at 36.2 g/dl, and RDW is high at 15.1%.  Lymphocyte is 18.6% low.   Vitamin B12 is high 1133pg/ml.

As I noted before I did have a 3 round of tests for HBV after the first was strange and the second seemingly normal.  I do not know the outcome of the HBV DNA test yet, but the other markers all appeared as if I have been vaccinated from HBV.

Are these other values of any insight?  I know you are not a doctor, but you sure do seem to know a tremendous amount about HBV and I was just wondering what you thought.

Thank you...

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments stef2011.

The people that read the false positive were a bit flaky, but the Hepatologist was from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC so I hope she knows what she is doing.

in any case occult hbv is rare and you are 99% immune

it is also good to check hbsag by architect or siemens to rule out occult hbv , poor sensibility old tests were used for sure, ask for abbott or siemens machines because these detects all types of mutations

HBV DNA < 29 IU/mL, HBV < 169 copies/mL
this is also too poor sensibility, abbott real time detects 10iu/ml and less, it can detect occult hbv while the test you have done is not good even for therapy monitoring
