Chronic Hbv carrier

Hello,
Is there any one here who is chronic hbv carrier who doesn't take any medication against hbv, but yet has some symptoms? If symptoms, what type of symptoms do you have?
As a chronic carrier, I'm always worried about infecting others. I've read the Hbv virus is very infectious; for example, it is 100 times more infectious than Hiv. And that the hbv can survive upto 10 days outside the body. This means that if a person touches a dried out, but not easily visible infected body fluid, then there is a potential of them being infected if they touch their mucous membranes or any open sores. Also I suffer from frequent nose bleeds; meaning that there is a big chance of me exposing others to my blood or traces of blood, when I for example shake hands with them, or when I use electronic machines like atm's. I say this because vaccination against hbv is not mandatory in all countries, despite the severity of this disease. Had I known about hbv, I would have vaccinated myself against it, but surprisingly, there is little information out there about this potentially debilitating disease.

hello.  i'm chronic hbv carrier and have not been on any meds, yet.  Im doing herbal remedies and hoping it will lower my viral load.  I don;t have any symptoms but concerned because of high viral load.  i caught it at birth and now 40 years old.  both my sisters have it and my mom but it appears that I;m the only one with a high viral load.  so i really don;t get how the same family can have it, but yet, only one has a high viral load.  their viral load is very low, like not having hbv at all.

I'm chronic. With a genotype d. Viral load is on its way to 700.000ul. I've had symptoms off and on for 20 years. I'm not physically impaired at all from it. No need to be depressed. It affects everyone different. Symptoms vary and come and go. Doctors tend to get intimidated by that. Hepatitis is a blood disease. That affects the liver and all other organs when u get to my point. Research the vaccine made by Merk pharmaceutical company. I was lucky to have stumbled upon it. I feel like alot of the first outbreak steamed from that. I have the itchy skin. My ears look like rudolphs nose at any random minute. Hbv is more deadly than Hiv. But yet all ive ever heard from a dr. Is I'll pass it and be fine. That is not the truth. Hbv is one disease of three that has its own dna. Hep is A BLOOD DISEASE FIRST AND FOREMOST. that affects our liver and other organs. And really doctors have no clue as to what pace. So yes I have all symptoms and have had them many years. Get the hbv dna blood tests done and research and u can diagnose yourself basically. I have and do still to this day. HCC IS THE END RESULT FOR ME.I've not suffered mental E one day on the strongest person mentale you will ever meet don't let it get you down honey. There's nothing you can do about it and IDK your I'm not so sure about it's a very powerful disease more powerful than HIV more powerful than most cancers when she get to HCC. Doctors are intimidated because they know nothing about it, so um, I would not listen. Do everything that you hear if you have symptoms get blood work go get a book from Barnes and Noble where have you order it from the CDC, the Happy Foundation will send you one and read it for yourself? Don't there's no need to be depressed. It is what it is.

Thank you for your encouragement. I'm now on entecavir starting few weeks ago, I'm hoping improvement of my health situation. If I couldn't see a change in my bad health situation within  six months, then I think I'm really going to lose hope:((
I wish you and others best of luck

"my concern is about mucous membranes in the eye, nose, mouth, etc or open sores"
this way of transmission is very low and perticularly can happen when ur viral load is quite high. This way it is also not practically feasible. Tell u again u cannot transmit the virus by sneezing or through salivary droplets falling on open sores, eyes or mucous membranes.
As aduiski said u should not think on things which u can't control, So be positive and regulate ur life according to this virus. Slowly u will learn everything. Ppl are talking about upcoming cures so wait for them to bring the real happiness, till then live healthy.

"I do not have any sexual partner, and I never plan to have as long as I've this disease."

- This is a nonsense...just have the other person vaccinated if he/she has not yet developed the immunity against hep b (you'll just have to wait few months until the tests shows that he/she developed immunity). There is a 3 vaccine normal schedule, but also a 4-vacinne accelerated vaccination schedule against hep b...familiarise yourself with those a bit.

Adults can be chronically infected with Hep B usually only if they have a compromised immune system, which is probably no more than 2% of people 16-60 old. As for those bellow 16, maybe some 95% of them are vaccinated against hep B.

When you get a bleeder you just wash  the blood as soon as possible with a warm water and a soup, and you practice safe sex unless you know the other person is vaccinated against it. End of story, very simple...

You worry to much about the things you can't control.

Arrowhead Research Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company developing targeted RNAi therapeutics, presented data from a Phase 2a clinical study at The AASLD Liver Meeting 2015® demonstrating that ARC-520, its lead drug candidate against chronic hepatitis B infection (HBV), effectively reduced HBV viral antigens derived from cccDNA. HBV surface antigen (HBsAg) was reduced substantially with a maximum reduction of 1.9 logs (99%) and a mean maximum reduction of 1.5 logs (96.8%) in treatment naïve e-antigen (HBeAg)-positive patients. This direct antiviral effect was still evident 57 days after a single dose. These data strongly support advancement of ARC-520, and Arrowhead has initiated multiple studies aimed at producing a functional cure of HBV.

They are now in the process of starting Phase 2b trial of the ARC-520. So we may see a cure for Hep-B infection in near future.

Hi,
Is indeed encouraging to read about the ongoing research to find at least a functional cure for hbv. I'm particularly  optimistic about the Arrowhead and the Replicor trials that have given very promising results.
You can read about Replicor here: http://replicor.com/science/hepatitis-b/

I can very well understand ur feelings concerning infecting others. first of all i would like to tell u that hbv today is not a debilating disease and makes the patient more of mentally unstable than giving physical ailment. The current treatment modalities can limit hbv from causing harm as in older time with impotent treatments. The affected patient suffers from depression and feel mentally low that he has got a disease which has no cure and that he have to carry it life long with an additional risk of always giving infections to other. The pschological status of the patient becomes like a culprit rather than a victim which actually he is. The social stigma associated with hbv is also very bad due to lack of proper information and awareness and this is also a reason to make feel low.
To u i want to say that just calm down and learn to live with the virus. Just keep an eye on ur blood reports and be in touch with a good doctor half yearly to see if u need to initiate a treatment/medicines or not. Adding to ur knowledge hbv cannot cross the barrier of intact skin and thus is not transferred by shaking hands or touching atms, Even if u ur blood drops on someones hand or intact skin, he will not be infected. Hbv is also not transferred via sneezing or tears or sweat. Infection via these body fluids is practically very rare and possible only when ur viral load is very high. Ur concern should be more on not doing unprotected sex with a person who is not vaccinated coz this is the major way u can infect others. So spread awareness and tell people to get vaccinated as much as u can so that no other person becomes a victim.

Hi,
Thank you for the feedback, and your understanding. As you see, I'm quite aware that hbv can't cross intact skin, my concern is about mucous membranes in the eye, nose, mouth, etc or open sores. I'm quite worried about the fact that hbv is highly infectious, 100 times more than hiv, and that it can survive upto ten days outside the body. As you described the psychological burden of potentially passing the infection to others is the main part of my suffering from the disease. I feel that I'm a health risk to the society, and very sad about it. I've not told anyone about my infection apart from the doctors, and dentists because I feel it would even increase my isolation and rejection from the society. I do not have any sexual partner, and I never plan to have as long as I've this disease.
