Hi Cajim,

I have been reading quite ardously all your old postings, first of all thanks a lot for putting up so much information you are doing a wonderful altruistic activity.

Back to my question is there any more info on Dr S P THyagrajan, can I be of any help being in India ?

60% people getting CURED is some news and i do belive this is not a gimmick.

I have more question for you which will follow later .

Interesting.  I would say it is not hard to believe that one case of cancer cure does exist, but to be convincing there needs to be one case after another.  Don't you agree?

What are your technical questions?

Hi ,

I think Sharp7 has covered almost all your questions in adept way accept the one regarding him being athiest , which ofcourse is his personal choice.

The thing that makes me think are hard facts which has made me believe in things, you will be amazed to know I know a person near my hometown who has cured a person ( my room mates uncle ) of cancer .. hard to believe but he treated them when doctors have answered in negative. and now he is hail and hearty , and Iam not giving rumooured account I know this family personally. Sorry for digressing from the topic but i do belive ayurveda has answer to some of the deadly diseases,
On more fact that makes me believe in this is Dr Thiagrajan is a renowned personality he is not any run of the mill nerd, so when he is claiming there has to be soemthing , but again my mind ask me question, had he been so close to the cure why is that he gave up .. where is he now .. and iam trying to find it out ..
Cajim I have some technical question and I will ask you that personally .

Many thanks for the info.  Interesting but hard to understand in a systematic way.  Traditional treatments need a lot of detailed documentations of case reports to establish validity.

Hi cajim,
I'm afraid I do not have answers to most of your questions. I'll answer the few that I can:
1. As far as I know, BMS is the only once licensed to sell Baraclude in India. Generic drugs are extremely cheap in India compared to western countries, but as far as I know, there is no generic Baraclude in India.

4. body fluids (humors). vata=wind, pitta=bile, kapha=phlegm. In Ayurveda, all diseases are thought to be imbalances between these elements.

7. dharma and karma are not directly related to medicine, as far as I know. These are philosophical concepts. Dharma is that which is right action for a person. Dharma can be loosely thought of as "duty", but it goes beyond that. Karma is the result of all your actions. Actions of not just this life, but of all your previous lives. Loosely, like your moral bank account.

3. I'll speculate: Indian history. As far as I know, no one in recent history is respected as much as old sanskrit scriptures that are over a thousand years old.

A few big disclaimers: I am an atheist, and my statements about Hinduism should not be taken at face value - I may be in a cynical mood. I will also claim to be more knowledgable about Hinduism than most of my Hindu friends - I may be conceited too :-). Though I see great merit in looking for chemicals in plants to cure trivial to deadly diseases, I just do not subscribe to the prinicples and approach of Ayurveda.

Thanks for the info.

1.  What is the price for the generic baraclude made in India?  Is it true that a year's supply is $700?  Is it true you buy it cheaper on the border between India and China?

2.  What are the three books "Kumaratanthram, Arkaprahasham and Nadipariksha" about?

3.  What are "ancient manuscripts handed down by the great masters?"  Are they related to N.K. Padmanabhan Vaidyar's family or India history?

4.  What do "vata, pitta and kapha" mean?

5.  Who is "the Maharaja of Kochi?"

6.  What is the scriptures in "all current ailments are mentioned in the scriptures with their remedies?"

7.  What are "dharma" and "karma?"

Comparing Dr. Vaidyar's approach and that of Dr. Liu which I am following, there are similarities and differences.  Examples of the former:  both use herbs, both emphasize  selective foods; examples of the latter:  Dr. V said no fried fish or meat, Dr. L emphasized drink of fish and beef soup; Dr. V allowed use of poisons as treatment while Dr. L absolutely forbid use of poisonous herbs, ...

Thank you for your explanations.

Hi ,

I have found this link a very old link
http://www.lifepositive.com/Body/ayurveda/ayurvedic-medicine.asp

i researched further and found out that now they have a full fledged website ( though appears very commercial )
http://www.nupalremedies.com/index.aspx

What iam trying to say here is when I say someone is affected and a carrier  I mean a chronic carrier only as rest of the people neways get rid of it.

Now what iam trying to do here is Iam trying to call all this people and get the data and phone no of the actual people whom they claim to have cure ...then only we can establish some faith in their claims ...

Regards,

the 60% cure rate does not impress me at the moment. I would like to read the peer-reviewed journal paper(s) that he has published. I have seen before (from a Homeopathy "doctor") a claim of 90% to 95% success rate in treating adults. Quite conveninetly, he had failed to mention the background of his patients: in particular, at what age they were infected.

Keep in mind that over 90% of people infected as adults clear it on their own, without any meds.

cajim, the standard treatment in India is more or less the same as what it is in the west. One difference: new meds usually get introduced in India a few months/years later than in the west -- I don't know the cause -- must be either the drug companies or the governemnt. Another difference: these meds are not covered by insurance here -- we pay for it on our own. Insurance in India covers only hospitalization, and associated drugs for up to 60 days from the date of hospitalization. So the cost of being on pegasys is too well beyond most people's means. Oral medications cost between USD0.5 to USD6 for a day's dosage (my doc told me this). I don't know the rate of any specific oral drug. Ayurvedic (Indian system) and Homeopathic doctors are very common here; but I don't know (in general or for just HepB) what percent of people here prefer which system of medicine.

Welcome to our search for cure for Hep B.

You being in India are in a unique position to update the community on progress in India on treatment of HBV.

Could you update:

1.  What are the standard treatments there? Herbal treatments?

2.  What is the price of genetic Baraclude in Indea?

Thank you.
