I am now more worried about the mode of transmission I have kids at 1 year old and since my status is not known  for Hep as of today. I need adice on how to manage my relationship with my kids till I know my status. Since I am playing with my kids I am little worried my saliva shoudl not infect them.

Great to hear all your family is immune.

Since the series is three shots, I think your children should complete them.

The rest, don't worry.

Best.

Hi All in this forum.... Thanks for all you support all these days... I was directed in correct direction....

Here is my Kids Result:

Both My kids tested Negative all Hep B markers.

and their Anti-HBS Levels ( after two dose of vaccination ) : Baby Boy 690 and Baby Girl 505 respectively.

I hope they are immue.... Should I go for the third shot....????

My Gtreatest concern is when I was exposed to Hep.

is it possible that with in 4 months IgM disapper after a accute infection?

1.  You are immune.  You cannot recently get infected.

2.  If your children have positive HBsAB, then they do not need any more vaccinations.  Otherwise ask their doctor if a three-shot repeat or a booster is better for them.

3.  Past exposure can be longer than 6 months.  6 months is used to determine chronic HepB: if you have two tests of positive HBsAg 6 months apart, then you have chronic HepB.

1.) When you say past exposure and from reading this forum I understood that you it is
6 month ago... AM I correct?

2.) Yesterday I ahve tested for my wife HbsAg - it was Negative and Also bdered blood work for Anti-Hbs, Anti-Hbc and IgM.

3.)Since my kids already got two shots of Hep  B vacination, what type test is needed for them. Incase I am infected recently does the two shots would have gave enough protection? Today I am planing to take my kids for blood work.

Regard,
Kum123

>>>What is your thought about my infection time from by using IgM?

It only suggests previous exposure not exactly when.

Thanks and sure I will ask them to get tested for anti-HBs.

Just for my understanding: What is your thought about my infection time from by using IgM?

1.  You do not need vaccination: you are immune.

2.  Your wife and children are better protected by receiving the proper tests and vaccinations rather than all these guesses which never give you certainty.  Have them tested for anti-HBs.

Best.

First I want say you guys are doing a good service. You guys are really a knowledge base for many folks like me.

So far you poeple given me the write guideness for me and thanks for the same.

I have few more queries for you. You have advised me that I am immune and I should not worry a bout past nature of infection.

------

1). How exactly the IgM marker can be used in finding the infection time frame. I have read that it is used find recent infection with 6 months.

1.a) Since my IgM is negative does it mean more than6 months

And also higher HBsAb value during the first year of infection.

Puttinh these two factors - Can you please suggest what is possible time frame of my iinfection.

I NEED THIS: to fo further testing for my wife and kids. as seen my record there is no mention about the HBsAg testing done in the year of 2007 where she is carrying. There was a test done at 2005 for Negative and after that no testing done.

2).  Virus can be reactivated for any other cause ( HBsAg -ve turning to HBsAb +ve) after some time.

Do I need to go for any vacine to keep my HBsAb at high level.

Kum123

"This > 1000 was printed in out of range and marked as High Value.
Should I worry about this."

You should be happy for this.  As cajim indicated, "the higher the HBsAb the better."  It means you are immune due to a natural clearance of a past exposure.  How you got it in the past doesn't really matter at this point.

Thanks ... Let me ask one more clarification:

Test Name                               Patient Value                       Normal Range

Hepatitis Surface Antibodies      H > 1000                             1-10 mIU/ml
Quantative

This > 1000 was printed in out of range and marked as High Value.

Should I worry about this.

From my other test results what is you conclusion about time time of my exposure. I went for surgery 7 years back and 1 year back I went for endoscopic. Is there any chance from these past exposure?

Now you have reason to blame yourself if you still worry:  You are immune to HBV.

The higher the HBsAb the better.

There are many reasons other than HBV for elevated  ALT (60) and GGT ( 70).

Congratulations.

My HBcAb +ve, HBcIgM -Ve, HBsAg -Ve and finally HBsAb +Ve but with very high level.

I am not sure how to intrepret the High HBsAb value.

Since IgM is -Ve Can this be assumed not a accute infection.

Am at Chronic or Accute or I have immue to Hep B.

Also I have elevated My Liver Enzymes ALT (60) and GGT ( 70).

Please advise me....

1) For your children, what is important is that they should have anti-HBs positive.  If not, it is safer to give them a booster till their anti-HBs becomes positive.

2) For you, you need to relax and wait till your results are available.

Best.

Thanks for your update.

1) I checked my kids vacination schedule and I have seen that they have given two shots and third was not given to them. I asked my wife she told me Dr told third is not needed.

Does it affect my kids immunity.. If I go the third shots for my kids does work now or 2 shots enough for my kids.

2). I went through some articles.
THey say : if HBsAg -ve, Anti-HBc +ve and Anti-HBs -ve then they said about four combination which inclues - fales positive or early accute state.

They also said IgM is first early marker which occurs in early statge. Which is Negative form me.

I have asked the lab for find IgG for Hep B and they said they do not have.

Still waitig for my ANti-HBs.

Steven:  Thank you very much for removing kum123's name per his request.

kum123:  I am sorry to have accidentally posted your name too.

If your wife's HBsAg was negative two years ago and you have married for longer than that, it is very likely she has positive anti-HBs which means she is immune to HBV, cannot be infected and cannot pass HBV to your children.

To be sure, have her anti-HBs be tested.

If the situation is such that the mother is immune to HBV and the father has chronic HBV and that more children are coming, the babies should be vaccinated as soon as they are born according to the vaccination schedule.

Best.

Reposted for cajim per kum123's request.

Dear Cajim, Thanks for your quick replaies to my question.... Let me breif  my exposure 4 months ago.. It was a very brief no penatrative condom protected sex ( vaginal rubbing) lasted for 6 - 8 secs.

Infact my GP and HIV councelling service told I need no test for any. Anywasy I went and tested for HIV, HCV @ 16 weeks : NEGATIVE.

My Liver Enzymes ALT (60) and GGT ( 70) eleveated in yesterdays report. I have tight feelikng in left upper abdominal.

As you already know anout Hep Panel REsult.

I have two kids I really worried abot infecting them.

I am from india.  Any suggestion will help! Pease!.

Regards,

kum123, please allow me to post your message here so that we all can try to help each other.

>>>Incase my Anti-HBs is came back negative : what shuould I do or what is your advise.

That may mean you are not immune yet.  Get vaccinated to be immune.

It is more likely that you do not have HBV.  Don't worry too much now.  Once your other results come, post them here and we will try to help.

Assuming the worst that you have acute HepB, the following will help protect your children:

"Keep all cuts covered and avoid sharing any sharp instruments such as razors, toothbrushes, or earrings, etc., since small amounts of blood can be exchanged through these items. Hepatitis B is not transmitted casually and it cannot be spread through sneezing, coughing, hugging or eating food prepared by someone who is infected with HBV."
