I recently visited the dr after my hbsab seroconverted, my hbv dna undetected, hbsag non reactive and hbsab reactive for more than a year, and stopped the viread medication for 6 months, and blood test result stays the same, i was under clinical trial, now the dr sent me home, no more hbv follow up appointments.
Here is what the dr told me, the hbv virus is still resides in my body, kinda like in dormat state, and my immuse system has recognized this virus, and has developed hb surface antibody, and through history, hbv is a stable virus where it is unlikely to mutate to another total different virus.
The dr. also pointed out that loss of hb e antigen and developed hb e antibody 4 years ago was the first good sign, and my continued elevated ALT liver function test result corresponding to my immune system determined to resolve the hbv virus was a miracle, where every one else except one other patient under this dr. care who are on anti viral drug have the virus supressed well, but in 2nd part, not many able to trick the immune system to develope surface antibody.
From now on just need to follow up family dr annual physical exam.
