Newborns of HBsAg-Positive Mothers
IM 0.5 mL. Administer first HBIG dose as soon as possible, preferably less than 12 h after birth. Also give hepatitis B vaccine. Test patient for HBsAg and antibody to hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs) at 12 to 15 months of age.
I had 3 children while being Hep B chronic carrier myself. Within 12 hours of birth the baby needs to get 1rst dose of Hepatitis B Vaccine along with Hep B Immune Globulin (HBIG)
At one month old baby should get 2nd shot of Hep B
At 4-6 months old third dose
At 9 months to one year to test if baby has developed antibodies for Hep B.
Both my oldest are protected against hep B, My newborn just got second shot recently, I hope it will work.
Your wife maybe needs to take medication if her HBeAG is possitive and negative HBeAB (shows replication of virus in her blood) higher chances to pass the virus to the baby.
