What is the risk of hbv chronicity in children.
Hbv is now part of the uk vaccination schedule for babies .... what about older children? Should they have the shots also as they are not being offered it at the moment.
I have read on here many times that chronicity only occurs in children vertically infected by mothers .
But what about unvaccinated children horizontally infected what is their risk of developing chronic carrier state ....at what age do immune systems recognize and fight viris ?
My sisters husband is a chronic carrier i was just wondering if my older children need vaccinating as they do spend time there. Dr said my children are not classed as "high risk" so would not qualify , but obviously i can pay for it?
